ISO a place to live on STX

Hello All,

Well it took almost a half of year, but we finally made it to STX. The island is every bit as beautiful as we hoped. Have found a place to stay for the time being, but looking for some place permanent.
Looking for a fully furnished 3 bedroom - 2 bath with a pool (or at least access to a pool)
On the beach would be perfect, but not set in stone. Long term rental. Budget TBD as needed.
Working with a realtor - but FEMA folks are getting everything we've looked at so far. Just the 2 of us, no pets - excellent credit ratings, financially secure and retired -- other than being smokers would be considered by most as perfect tenants. (we didn't smoke in our own home in the states - would never think of smoking inside someone else's here)
I feel like our realtor is doing a good job - but figure it doesn't hurt to put it our there.
Any leads greatly appreciated -
Thank you,

Glad you made it. May want to post over in the USVI Classifieds forum. I'd think at least some of the FEMA folks should have an exit plan by now.

Good luck. FEMA ship leaving Feb 3. Those who will still be here will likely grab what ever places are left.

Reading this made me sad. We plan to be living on St Croix by July this year. Does that mean we will not be able to find a reasonable rental? It’s only my husband and I and we don’t need a big place- around $1000 a month.

I'm sure you will be able to find a rental in the summer! Things are much slower then.

They will likely be gone by July and things in the rental market should get back to normal

There are still many house rentals available at any given time.

Check with the realtors.

We were just approached to rent out our furnished studio to FEMA employee for 2 months. $230 per night clear after hotel tax and realtor finder fee , as long as it has AC and internet.....

This too shall pass.

Hi Speedy - yeah, checking every avenue we can find. 4 places on FB, ads from local papers, this site, etc. We have found a couple of places - but they are so god-awful expensive..... hate to have to put out that kind of money for rent for something we don't really like. May not have a choice for the first year and hope things level out after that year.

In terms of actual dollars What do you consider "god-awful expensive"??? Your original post only said "...Budget TBD as needed...". What are you actually willing to spend?

Right now, you are competing with FEMA and snow bird dollars.

Things will calm down come April/May.
