Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows which companies in STT is my first choice but I'm also open to STX, typically have IT positions aside from the goverment or the hospital. I'm in the cyber security field but I don't know if any employers are hiring for that on the island.
Thanks for the help,
col

I am in IT as well and want to relocate to STX from STT. Looked US Vikings' page but nothing listed as open 🙁

How about contacting the University of of VI or http://www.vingn.com
or possibly http://www.icmcvi.com located here in STT.

I haven't heard of anything recently (on STX). But have you considered working from home (on whatever island) for a stateside company? That's what I did for a while. I had to jump through some hoops to satisfy the security requirements of the Fed contract I was working on, but it was doable. (Only caveat is that I transferred here with the same employer - I was not a new employee. Hunting for a new job while telling the employer you aren't planning on living anywhere near the office is admittedly much harder.)

I have considered that. There are numerous posts proclaiming how wonderful wapa is 😀 which makes me wonder when the power goes out, how long is it generally out? Thanks for the suggestion btw.

Depends on the reason and where you are on the grid. Might be 20 minutes. Might be an hour or two. Might be two days.

Might be 'rotating outages' -- when one of the main generators goes down - off 2-4 hours a day on a "schedule" until it is fixed .
