If anyone knows a good place to buy a kayak on STT or anyone who gives skimboarding lessons (we have skimboards but suck horribly at it) we would be most appreciative. Thanks!

There's still a kayak listed for sale on craigslist - ad dated December 17th under "boats" - and you could also check with the chap at Magens who runs the kayak concessions there as he likely has leads for one and also for skim boarding instruction.

They have a skim boarding competition every year, and there's a website for it. Skimboardingvi.com, I think. The store in Red Hook that used to be Surf and Skate but now different name, is the place for all things skim board.

VI Ecotours sometimes sells kayaks. Give them a call.

Check with John at West Indies Windsurfing on Vesssup Beach.
If the business is still there, he'd be the one to contact.

K-Mart sells kayaks, and Cost U Less has them from time to time.

I thought that Caribbean Surf Co. sponsored the skimboard contest at Morning Star?

It was Evolution Surf and Skate across the street who was major sponsor, I think, but it now has a new owner.

The site is skimcaribbean.com, but it doesn't look active now. No mention of competition this year.

Ha, ha! You're welcome, but I feel kind of bad that I don't have current info. I used to see posters for previous competitions, but haven't seen one this year.

Did another one bite the dust???

I got mine from John at West Indies. A few screwball island mishaps but all in all would do business with again.

For lessons - just hit up some of the kids in hull bay. I bet if you paid them a little they'd love to show you some tips.
