Aside from Yacht Haven Grande, where can one buy a good leather purse with a matching wallet?
Are there any small stores on island that I need to know about-location doesn't matter?
I'm looking to buy a sturdy, very good quality leather purse and matching wallet for a Christmas gift.
Need a little help here. Thanks in advance.

Essentric Shoe Boutique behind The Greenhouse in town now carries the Land brand of leather bags and wallets. I think prices start at $69 or so, but they may have Miracle in Main St sale.

Call Zorra's and see if they have anythng matchnig your discription.
Riise's on Main Street may also have what you are looking for or a sales person may be able to direct you.
Happy Hunting.

Zora has canvas tires. Riise doesn't sell purses. I need a new purse, and I've been looking. It's really hard now to find real leather bags!

No idea, but curious as to what a canvas tire is? Maybe the knock offs that are sold at the unsightly vendor's plaza has leather bags?

Canvas bags is what I think I meant to say! I don't think I've ever seen leather bags in her store.

I buy Land bags whenever I get a chance.

Thanks for clarifying ms411, I was trying to imagine a store on St. Thomas that sells tires and purses….haha!

Olga Gloves in Palm Passage and Outrigger Boutique in Havensight also have leather bags. Not too expensive, either.

Thank you for the suggestions, ms411. Is there a website for Lands purses. Just so I know what to expect?

I will look in some stores during the Christmas tree lighting night, when the stores are opened late at Havensight on December 11th. Correct day?
I will look downtown during Miracle on Main Street. What day is that? I heard December 13th. Am I correct?

It does seem hard trying to find a leather purse on island. The few I saw at YHG were perfect as a gift, but a little out of price range.

How about any stores in Red Hook/East End?
Tillet Garden's?
Frenchtown?
Any place I missed?

PS:
Tire canvas purses...lol.
Vendor's Plaza...knock-offs that aren't worth it.

Here's their website, but I buy them on sale when I see a store. I'm pretty sure I never paid more than $100 for a bag!

http://www.landleather.com/index.php/

Havensight is Wed, Miracle is on Friday.

The only store on East End that I think has bags is that new boutique (Celia's?) near the ferry dock.

I think the designer bags have taken over the purse market. It's hard to find a real leather bag anywhere. Didn't see any in Marshall's in PR.

Thanks ms411. I will check out the stores you recommended.

I saw an ad in the Island Trader for Clover's Shoe-Tique located in the Professional Building near Fort Christian. According to the ad they carry Calvin Klein Bags & Wallets, Koret, and Veneto Bags.
Someone told me to check out New Horizons Clothing located in Frenchman's Plaza, Frenchtown.

Oh! I forgot about Clover's! I was in there a few weeks ago to see if he had new shoes, and I did see some.bags, but not a lot. It's a very small store, but has good brands. Very nice owner. I got a great deal on a pair of Rockport sandals there a while back - cheaper buying from there than I could find online. Shoes were on sale, though.

I'm looking for a new purse myself. With leather so scarce am considering nylon, but want fabric, not pleather, straps/handles.

Haven't been to New Horizons in years, so can't give purse feedback.

Great! I was in Outrigger the other day and checked out the purses, so I thought about this thread. I need to ask if they're going to get more purses, because they used to have quite a few, but now limited selection. The person who used to buy them for the store no longer works there.

They also had some cute dresses for date nights. If they also supplied the date, I'd be set!

I know this is too little too late, but there's an accessory store in Redhook - same building as Chelsea Pharmacy (is that RH Plaza?) but upstairs in one of the hallways.
I've never been in, but I know they sell purses.

How do you guys keep your leather bags from molding?? I don't have a leather purse..... Actually I don't own a purse lol but I do have a really nice antique leather binocular case and it gets the light green mold on it. I've tried alcohol in a spray bottle and vinegar on the straps. Works for about a week then it's back. I even have it hanging now near a window in the sunlight. My leather shoes are toast too.

Part of the charm of living in the VI.
How about waterproofing? Would that help?

Yea have you seen that spray stuff that's 100% waterproof?? I can't remember the name. I'm going to visit AZ in a couple months so I'll take the case back with me and leave it there. It's an antique and my dad thought it'd be nice for me to have it, not knowing the mold issue. Glad I sold my LVuitton before I moved here lol. That woulda been a waste.

Aand A2VI -----The problem with your leather case is primarily due to the continuous rain that we have had the past couple of months. Once the weather dries up, you will not have as much of a problem.
