Hi! I'm an esthetician, soon to be dual licensed in massage therapy. I was looking on the usvi dept of licensing and consumer affairs website and don't see anything about requirements for massage therapy license on St. Croix. I'm still 2 years away from moving there, but I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row...Does anyone have a referral to a website regarding massage therapy requirements? Greatly appreciated!!

Best to just call them directly @DLCA.

Good morning, Dreya,

I am a VI licensed massage/bodywork therapist - have been for 10 years. As Alana suggested, calling DLCA is a good idea since their requirements seem to change yearly (even for those of us with 'simple' renewals - ALWAYS new hoops to jump through!). What I know and can share with you is: You need to have passed either the NCBTMB or the MbLEX exams, have at least 500 hours of education from a qualified massage school, have completed HIV/STD education (not sure of the hours needed for this - has changed the past 3 years), have current VI Health Card (which you need to be on island to get). During the process of licensing, you will need to get a police records check, submit your tax forms to IRB (to show you are current on your taxes - in the US or VI), fill out a the Allied Health form for Community Health (located on STX). My best advice is to enlist the aid of someone like Jodi Williams (illdoitforuvi.com) - she can help with the process from start to finish and is excellent at what she does! She is located in St. Thomas (where I first began my practice), however, she has continued to help me with anything I need even though I am now located on St. Croix. I am not sure she does this as a regular practice or if it was simply because I have been an established customer. Perhaps someone here on STX can help with someone who does her type of work on this island.

Feel free to PM me if you have other questions, however, I will be away from all devices for the next several days as I am traveling back to the VI from NC, after helping my elderly parents with the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew (what a mess Eastern NC is right now!). I will be in touch with you as soon as I am back online.
