Medical Insurance - New info?

is this for foreigners or Americans

I emailed him and it is for Americans. I haven't gotten any info on they type of plans. This is good news! It was putting a damper on our decision to move prior to getting a position on Island. Opens more options now. If I hear anything else about the plans, I will post it here.

I love my Cigna Global coverage...so affordable and the folks in Scotland are easy to deal with.

I'll remain skeptical too until I see more proof that their eligibility policy has changed. I was told by a rep in writing last July, after being very specific about my status, that I could be covered. But then was turned down by underwriting due to my being an American citizen.

I was just hoping maybe someone knew about or currently has this insurance that could enlighten us, as this is a sticking point in our move down there.

I got online and did a test application and put in my nationality and it gave me a quote for a gold/Silver/platinum choices.

I tried to get a quote from them last year for USVI and it wouldn't go through due to my American nationality. Don't know if that is hopeful info - but it could be a good sign!

Plenty of people give out misinformation based on poor or non existent research. Likewise, how many people do you think are employed with Cigna in Scotland who have any clue as to the status of the US Virgin Islands? They probably lump the Virgin Islands all together on a cursory glance and likely DO insure US citizens living in the British Virgin Islands.

Since this is something vitally important where your decision to move here or not is concerned, then follow up on the information you've given.

You qualify for the policy because you are not a US Citizen and it's irrelevant that your wife is a US Citizen - she's covered under your policy as your spouse regardless of her citizenship. It's not complicated.

Guess I can move down then, cause my wife is Canadian and I would be covered on the policy according to OT. Vicanuck, we should get together when I come down in a few weeks. You and my wife can discuss Justin Tredeau. 😉

BTW OT, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today. I was only asking for validity of it due to the fact they were not licensed before to provide it and now someone who is well known on the Island is putting it out again that it is available. So being the fact that I don't live there, read the news from there occasionally and figure that those in the know are on this board, that I would bring up what I saw and find out the facts, but I will work on my Scottish accent, give them a calling. Or if I took your post out of context, sorry and have a great day.

Yes we can cover US or Canadian nationals living in USVI.
I will be more than happy to call and discuss some cover options when I am back in the office tomorrow.

Could you please confirm a convenient time and number to call and we can discuss your options?

I read your posts all the time and think how could they take it like that, but I guess when you were replying to me, I read it as being very blunt. Funny how you can interpret things so differently based on whom they affect. Yeah. I was told they would cover me too.. Guess what. Nope. They even sent me same email saying yes they could being a US citizen. Good thing I get insurance via work and didn't rely on their story.

I just tried on-line and put my nationality as US and moving to USVI and here is the response:

Kim emailed me back and said that she has this insurance.

But is she (or whoever is the policy holder) a US Citizen? I know and know of several people who have coverage through Cigna Global but they're only eligible for the coverage because they are not US Citizens. The fact that she has it isn't the point.
