Geeze. Every time I inadvertently pick up someone else's carry-on, all I ever find in it is dirty underwear, clothes that don't fit, used toiletries, or paperbacks I've already read. That poor guy just has the worst luck!

(tu)

Looks like he was looking forward to a great weekend with his $26K in cash and his coke stash.

Good doggie!

Now he's going to have to look forward to being someone's b@#ch in prison. Those are federal charges so he won't be going to the Golden Grove Country Club.

Gees I always assumed everyone had to go through TSA to get onto a plane. Is it normal for people with some sort of credentials to get through like that? Seems like a giant back door....kilos of cocaine or explosives

Wow and double wow

For sure it sounds like he is a part of that narcotics ring!
Since the VIPA employs him (acc. to the source article), I am sure this is a much much larger operation.
It is a HUGE back door. Wow.
It is a very good thing that K9 dog caught him.

Maybe he's a part of this?

I'll bet a dollar we find in the coming weeks a TSA agent or two were in on it.

Allow some levity here - maybe some of the money from the sale was earmarked for the purchase of those desperately hankered-after imperial government limousines.

It was all part of the Kings plan to pay off his Wapa bill.

Everyone does go thru the checkpoint and everything is screened very few exceptions. Where was he nabbed post screening or before? I'm sure our officials do try to badge their way thru TSA and some may let them through. I had one senator tell me he didn't need to show me his ID to check a bag because everyone knows who he is. I'll be this is only the tip of the iceberg as far as smuggling goes from our government.Hopefully some investigation will happen. They should have let him on the plane and then let the mainland TSA/CBP nab him. Then he would really have to face the music.

According to the Source Article he bypassed TSA screening by flashing his credentials. He was busted after the checkpoint, in the gate area.

Which is why he chose Spirit Airlines. If he was flying American they would have busted him for sure. 😎

Not likely, I knew people back in the day that used American pilots and stewardess' as mules. They did that for years and never came close to getting caught

Maybe, but I bet they never dared have an over-weight carry on bag 😎

That was back before crews were screened. Crews were not screened until the 80's when a baggage handler got into the cockpit of a PSA plane and shot the pilot in the head.

Hers a little update from the consortium.
http://viconsortium.com/breaking-news/chesterfield-told-feds-assignment-governor-mapp-trying-bypass-security/

I like how Mapp casually mentions:

“Several months ago you may recall that one of the uniformed officers here at Government House was found dead by his relieving officer. I did not make public then but I will make public now, that that officer literally keeled over face down into cocaine that he was apparently using, and died of a massive heart attack,” Mr. Mapp revealed.

Drug testing, anyone?

Drug testing? Is that free? Is that spending a necessity?

Free? No, but pretty cheap. The Drug Free Work Place Alliance located on St Croix manages the drug and alcohol testing for many employers in the VI.

Necessary? Well lets see. One member of the Government security staff keeled over dead into a pile of coke and another was just arrested at the airport with just over 47lbs of coke. Tip of the iceberg? Be good to find out don't you think?

It would clear the decks and separate the wheat from the chaff, pdq.

"The governor added: “I will also be sending down to the Legislature [a bill] to codify the executive security team of the governor and lieutenant governor, placing it squarely under the auspices of the commissioner of the Police Department, and restricting service only to those persons who are Virgin Islands police officers, and who have in fact been cleared by the federal law enforcement agencies to be serving in these positions.”

Also under the new legislation, the officers driving the governor and lieutenant governor will be codified and must be officers of the Virgin Islands Police Department.[/i]"

That to me is just a little confusing. Not sure why members of these details have to be members of the VIPD when I'd think there are non-VIPD personnel who are qualified to serve on security details. Even in the last few years and with so many technological advances, there have been numerous cases of hires eventually being "outed" with falsified credentials. Seems to me that an overhaul of the government's often archaic and sloppy system of vetting and background checks across the board is long overdue.
