They've got to do sea trials in heavy seas which is most often what we have between STT/STX. Safety first.

This is why this should remain a private run service. They will focus on safety, unlike if the government were running it, the ferry would be rushed into service. Take your time and get it right........

Could be quite the ride in high seas!

The whole dual hull concept is to try to get a more stable ride (compare to the previous ferry) in those high seas.

I certainly understand the hull design concept with trying to be more stable, particularly for that crossing. I would simply much prefer giving my money to Seaborne Airlines rather than that spoiled brat of a billionaire...

That's a bit harsh, don't you think? He's only a millionaire.

Sorry, my mistake... a spoiled brat, multi-millionaire. My description is actually quite mild, vicanuck, based on my experiences with the man....a lot worse could have been said! But, nonetheless, he won't be getting a cent of my money - not that it matters to him in the least - I am sure he will have plenty of supporters...

I wouldn't take the ferry, but other than that, Warren is an interesting guy. I don't know him personally nor have I worked for him. But, he seems to know how to make money. I okay with that.

The design isn't the best, too long and too narrow...It will be a very uncomfortable ride.

Uhh, long and narrow seems to work best in High seas, dualhull would work amazing as well...

A friend from gold coast is just putting the finishing touches on his 40' long ~9' boat.. I guess you'd call it a trimaran? It's really a monohull with two pontoons,, built to go between the islands & it's SMOOOOOTH through the waves.

I don't recall seeing any horse seats in the videos. Maybe not even a bicycle but that would be more reasonable.

The problem with a hull that long, and too narrow, with the pontoons only in the front and back, is you get the center of the boat dragging the wave crests and then high and dry in heavy seas. Ever see video of oil tankers splitting in half in heavy seas, same concept. You need constant contact with the sea to keep the hull from stress in the center...

Ferry update from Goldcoast:
"Trials went great. The seas cooperated. We completed all the runs needed. Coast Guard has come and inspected everything they wanted for the trials. My guys and I are working through the data. We’ll be working through the Holidays on the analysis and plan to submit everything to the engineers at MSC when they get back from Holidays. I’ll let you know when that submission happens. We are also work through that list miscellaneous of item I gave you earlier. We are looking to have it all inspected and signed off in the beginning of January. They will also be looking to conduct crew drill around that time. I’ll give them Rogers contact info so they can organize that with him."

Today would be a perfect time for a sea trial with the arrival of our Christmas winds (it's howling) and rough sea conditions.
