Lots of people on STT have fallen victim to chickingunya (sp?).

Please share ideas to avoid contracting. I tried the off! clip ons, mosquito coils, citronella plants.

Hopefully others have solutions that I haven't tried.

Tomorrow I will try the diy mosquito trap. So exciting!

My "Dynatrap" does a great job of keeping down the population. Still have an "as new" second one up for sale - think the ad is still up somewhere in the classified section. Best catcher I've ever used other than the way more expensive commercial propane-powered machine I used outside at my restaurant.

Spraying yourself is the only sure means.
Or spraying the bedroom prior to going to bed.
There is another thread here discussing mosquitos/repellents so you might try locating it.

Take 100 mg of vitamin B1 everyday. Usually you won't be 'interesting' to the mosquitos after this. The alternative is a B-complex vitamin.

Or eat lots of garlic

The thing is that while some people seem to benefit from the B vitamin regimen, garlic and a whole bunch of other things, none of them work for everyone! The only surefire personal protection is a Deet-containing repellent.

After reading those two, better try good protection... STT has been hit hard with the virus...

Yike! I'm not sure which is worse with Deet, the problem or the cure 🙁 since anything that you put on your skin goes into your cells. A few years ago a very nice woman on Tortola gave me an all natural mosquito repellent called ODOMOS that works great. My two year old son was getting eaten alive ... poor little guy looked like he had Chicken Pocks ... I was at Bobby's Grocery asking for something other than off as it wasn't working and I don't like to use it anyway because of the chemicals. This woman overheard our conversation, said she had worked at a daycare and that they used Odomos on the kids because it was completely safe and worked great. She was nice enough to take a taxi and run to her house and bring me a couple tubes of Odomos back. She then refused to let me pay her for it, or even for her taxi. Sooo Sweet. And even more so because it totally did the trick! I have been using it ever since,....about 5 years now and it always works great. Added bonus, it has a mild, pleasant smell. You do have to apply it a little more frequently than other repellents but it's well worth the extra fuss.. It is manufactured in India so you have to order it on line, Google it, and it takes a while to ship so I would recommend ordering a couple of tubes at a time. I ordered a few last time and gave a tube to all of my family members. ......The mosquito is Wisconsin's true state bird after all. 😉

I'll ask some Indians here if they know about it. Lots of Indian products here so maybe somebody is bringing it in.

Made with all natural 12% N, N-diethyl-benzamide.
