Give Crowley a call and stay away from Tropical. Should be around $1000 from Miami to STX. Shipped one down last year.
Check out Crowley's website for information.

We have used Crowley many times; their STX rep is O'Neills Transport

VI CARGO is awesome............shipped vehicle and household crap. Cost was under what was estimated both times.

Just wondering, did you take out insurance through the shipping company (oneils-crowley) to cover any damage?

the insurance they offer didnt even come close to the damage they did. and then they spouted some 1930's maritime law saying pretty much "these things happen"
went through our private insurance carrier for vandalism.

we've shipped cars with Tropical before, but were looking for some current recommendations. Price from Tropical is hundreds lower than VI Cargo, even though VIC is now owned by Tropical...We've shipped containers through Crowley, but had real issues with the O'neal end of the trip...so now I don't know what we will do....

I shipped my car in November and used international logistics solutions (they are listed on this website). I worked directly with Mimi and was very pleased. I believe they are the broker and use sea stars for the shipping. It was 1360 from Jacksonville, fl to Stx.

One of the positives of VI Cargo is that they clear Road Tax for you BEFORE you retrieve your vehicle. This may be why they are a few hundred more than others, because that few hundred goes to Road Tax. I can't speak for the others, but our experience with VI Cargo shipping out automobile, and with numerous smaller shipments as a frieght forwarder since then, has been absolutely wonderful.

Nope. They do the clearance with Finance, but you pay the tax when you settle your bill.
