I think Ms411 is referring to Doc Peterson, retired Veterinarian and Calypsonian, not Dr Pederson the Orthopedic surgeon.

Years ago my son broke his wrist in a fall. Dr Pederson set it and put a cast on it. The next day we were scheduled to fly to California to see an orthopedic surgeon for my husband. I asked him to take a look at my son's wrist also. He did and said dr. Pederson did an excellent job in resetting it. We were pleased with what he did.

I can't recommend Dr Pedersen. I'd go to the States.

You might check Dr Jackson at Comprehensive Orthopedic Group--excellent.

I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus by Dr. Pederson. Follow up visits after surgery take hours in his office. If you have a 1pm appt. you will be lucky if he sees you by 4 or 5pm. Thought he did a good job until after some time I started having the same problems. After having a new MRI on my knee in STT, by a different dr. I was told that the surgery he performed was not done properly. I also have seen Dr. Jackson of COG for back problems...after having seen her repeatedly for many months with no good results, was told by her that there was nothing wrong with me. I then went to another Ortho on STX (who by the way is no longer on STX), and another MRI, found out I had several herniated discs in my lower back. I know many people that are happy with both Pederson and Jackson. I am just sharing my personal experience.

If you're going to have a recovery period in RLSH, bring a comfortable pillow, warm clothing, a sweater, socks, an warm extra blanket, snacks, something to read, etc. Your cellphone will work in room but no internet connection.

I believe that Dr. Chase uses Dr. Bacot's surgery center for day surgery.

Alana, the acronym is SRMC- Schneider Regional Medical Center. 😉

We've gone to Dr. Pederson on and off and have had a few things taken care of successfully. Please check on this if its a major surgery, but I don't think he's a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon. That's important if it were me needing major surgery.

There's WI-FI but you have to go to a certain part of the hospital to be able to access it. It was not available in the room on the floor my sister was in when she was in the hospital while recovering from surgery on 2 different occasions, earlier this year. At least, that was the case at the time.
Very inconvenient for someone that's not ambulatory.

BTW - Thanks for the correction.
(the acronym is SRMC- Schneider Regional Medical Center. wink)
You can tell how long I've been here!

I don't know how long ago your sister was in the hospital, but if it was more than a year, things are different... I only say this because many "old timers" have memories of the way things were many years ago, and there really is change in some areas of the VI.;)

She was there in Feb and again in March, earlier this year.
My niece flew in from Cayman Islands to help her and she'd have to leave the room and go elsewhere, a lounge, perhaps, in order to check her email as it was not available in the room.

It has been a while, but when I was there they had wifi but no one had the access password.
