What is the point of Knocking any Religious Entity or Pastafarian's on a relocation forum. Keep the forum the way it is. If a subject is deleted so be it. Some good messengers (posters) have been deleted and that's should be changed.

This is exactly the type of response that led me to stop contributing. My post was not knocking any religious entity. I'd be interested to see how you took it to mean otherwise. I couldn't give a rats backside what other people believe in as long as they are civil, and not prejudicial, nor extremists, nor infringe on the rights of others.

If you're suggesting that this site isn't moderated, I'm afraid you're wrong. Read the TOS:

OldTart,
I have no interest in a non moderated forum, I googled, that's what came up. You have a problem when someone gives you an answer. Again it's not a public forum and management controls the dialogue.I will repeat what I said, I like the board the way it is.

IslandHops,
I have no idea what you are talking about post don't post. If you are referring to one of your posts, I didn't read it nor did I delete it.

I'd start contributing again if there was a lightly moderated board for "resident topics", here or elsewhere. As long as civility was maintained.

In the past I found that any topic that became remotely controversial - even directly related to current local issues - was immediately slammed as being "not related to moving" and therefore not considered a valid topic. After being subjected to this a few times I've stopped posting as a result.

I say bring back 'club snarky' for the enjoyment of all, be yea pastafarians or not.

I agree. Light moderation. Allow a cross section of topics. Life in the VI isn't all palm trees and rum drinks. From time to time life isn't easy or "agreeable". To remove contraversial topics discourages contributors. To cater to select group of posters discourages contributors.

We seem to be at cross purposes here. You brought up "private" forum versus "public" forum and moderated versus unmoderated and I asked if you knew of any forums which weren't moderated and you offered one which IS a moderated forum. I don't believe there is such an animal as an unmoderated forum. I have no problem with being answered but your answer was incorrect. No problem.

As far as the current debate is concerned, I have no argument at all with the status quo and expressed same several posts back.

Without splitting hairs, this forum is managed with certain rules, If it were a true public company the first amendment would apply.:D

This is what I said. Why do you have a problem with that OT. Please don't answer you go on and on and on.

I agree too. A board where it was clear that was the purpose. I think it would be like fresh air for everyone.

This has got to be the most boring topic to have everyone having hissy fits about..............
My opinion, mind you, and yes, you are entitled to yours but everyone gets so testy about the stupidest things..

Cheese and bread, moderation? Separate forum? In my mind decisions do become more challenging as you get closer to the equator but the question could be answered with a simple, ya mon or naahh dat bad me son but please go on as it is absurd and amusing.

Look at the moon, ponder the direction of the breeze, listen to the sea and the night sounds, check your pulse and just dig it. Take a moment.

Thank you for the feedback so far.

Re. public vs. private and moderated vs. non-moderated... these are non-discussions... lets stick to the topic.

If anyone else wants to weigh in as far as having a social sub-forum for off-topic discussions, please share feedback.

What an exciting and interesting discussion!

Imagine how many more of these we could have with the sub forum Islander is proposing.

Six month beta...what have you got to lose?

Check out the "Student Corporal Punishment" thread for an example of the types of lively discussion that could occur on this new social sub-board.

Off topic for a relocation board but definitely of interest to the people who live here! Let's open our minds to new ideas!

I'm waiting for Islander to open the new sub forum.

What are we waiting for?

A new sub-forum has been added for discussions of topics un-related to the Virgin Islands. Its called "Under the Coconut Tree". Find it on the Forum List page. Thank you.
