How easy is it for young, single people to move here and make friends? Do people mostly make friends through their jobs or are there different social groups? Anyone care to share their experience with coming down alone with no family?

People make friends here just as they do anywhere else in the world through their jobs, accommodations, hobbies, activities, etc. We have a very transient population amongst particularly young people who stay for a few months to a couple of years and there's always plenty going on.

There is a very active group, St Thomas Sport and Social Club, that is on Facebook. They sponsor great activities. St Croix Hiking Association on St Croix is another great group

Lots of volunteer opportunities with non profits like animal shelters, etc.
