I've paid both Fedex and UPS in cash many times here in the VI.

If anyone is looking to purchase small electronics items, Crutchfield offers free usps priority mail/tracking to your USVI PO Box, AND they are the only retailer I know which extends their cashback/rewards program to USVI residents. I recently ordered a camera through them and was shocked to learn that I have over $150 waiting for me in a gift card whenever I want/need it, accumulated from purchases over the years.

Crutchfield doesn't carry a huge selection, but they carry a good variety of top brands and offer the best support I've ever encountered. They are my first stop when I'm gadget hunting.

OK, I'll chime in again. Diver's Direct in FL ships to states or USVI, USPS priority 2 day, free if orders are over $25. Right now their web site is not working for VI shipments, have to phone in the order.

If you're looking for a single item, one "retailer" to check that may offer free shipping is eBay. I've bought all sorts of things there with free shipping, including items that I could never find another retailer to ship them here at any price.

Some eBay sellers will have their listings marked as "does not ship to US Protectorates" (usually when they want to ship UPS only). Sometimes it takes a few clicks to find one that does ship here, and other times if you contact the seller they will be happy to ship to you anyway once they realize it won't cost them any more than shipping a USPS parcel anywhere else in the country.

Here's something I never found before. While Christmas shopping on amazon a button popped up saying "free 1 month trial of amazon prime". I thought how much easier it would be to choose an item & not have to group it with something else to reach the $35 mark. As a bonus they have some movies I can't stream from netflix. The gifts I bought were going stateside, so I don't know if shipping here takes a song & dance, but it certainly made my shopping more relaxed.

Unless they changed the rules in the last month, Amazon shipments to the VI are not eligible for free Prime shipping. You do get the Prime video, Cloud photo storage, Kindle lending library, and the free shipping to the stateside addresses that you mentioned.

I didn't see anything on page 1 that contradicts my post? If I read the post that I responded to correctly, Kakalee was talking about possible free shipping to VI in relation to Prime membership, and maybe not having to bundle purchases to reach the $35 requirement for the regular free shipping mentioned on page 1.

Not a contradiction, just trying to head off another "Amazon doesn't offer free shipping here/yes it does" debate by pointing the potentially confused to the right info. 🙂

I don't know if this question was ever asked or answered, if so, I'm sorry, and can you please provide the link. Thank you!

Why does FedEx and UPS consider the USVI International shipping?

Don't know for sure. But my guess is maybe due to routing and distance logistics? I know some of the major airlines treat flights to here as international flights - at least internally.

They aren't subsidized or mandated to deliver here, like USPS. So maybe it's a premium just for serving the islands, or making up for overhead or less quantity - simple capitalism. This would have been a wonderful question for Stacey Plaskett to ask when she had all the major shippers in one place at the Congressional hearing a few months ago.

Amazon will ship here free for orders $35.00 and over (merchandise only) as long as it is shipped by Amazon or full filled by Amazon. You need to select standard shipping only which once it ships is usually here within a week. It will not be a choice at checkout (free shipping) you need to contact Amazon with chat or call and give them the order # and remind them we are eligible for the free shipping. If they tell you it is only continental tell them to check with super. I have had at least 20+ orders shipped free and some of these are extremely heavy. You do not need to be a prime member just remember standard shipping on checkout and all items sold or full filled by Amazon.

I was informed last night that Amazon Prime does apply here - I was told that if you are charged you email them with links to your purchases and then they refund the shipping to your credit card. This came from a friend who had done just that - she said you have to let them know in the email that you live in the USVI and we are part of the USA and she had recently received quite a lot of credit back to her credit card and you can link multiple purchases in one email to Amazon.

Interesting, as we are still listed as ineligible. I know that when they removed PR from this list, and then added them back, this page was updated both times rather quickly.

"Addresses in the U.S. territories, possessions, protectorates (other than Puerto Rico)"

Amazon Prime Shipping Benefits - Eligible Items & Addresses

So I remain skeptical, and will continue to bundle my shipments to get the Super Saver credit. I have asked about this on the help forum.

Not sure why you are re-posting? We get it. Or at least I do. We are eligible for free Super Saver shipping.

I have not had anything physically delivered to VI - but Thrive Market is AMAZING and packs their items better then anyplace I've ever seen (almost to the point of excess, a glass jar in a plastic bag wrapped in many, many layers of this nifty paper cushiony stuff) and I just plugged in the STT zip code and shipping was still free. If you are looking for organic/non gmo (my bf refers to it as "hippy food" - I call it, you know, FOOD) this place is the cheapest I've found even after the $59 annual membership fee. Fingers crossed there really is free shipping - this is my food lifeline and I'll be SUPER sad if I can't use them after we move. If anyone tries them I would love to hear about your experiences!

And if I have to call Amazon with every order to get my free prime shipping it's gonna be a hard adjustment for me...and them. I use Amazon for about 75% of my shopping, the delivery guy is on a first name basis with my dog....

To beat a dead horse a little bit more: there is no free Amazon PRIME shipping here. (I did get verification about a week ago from Amazon that this hasn't changed , since another poster said there was). There is only free Super Saver shipping if your Amazon fulfilled items total $35 or more.

(tu) Yes, yes and yes again! This is really not complicated and I just went through it for the umpteenth time yesterday. Contacted Amazon just as I've done many times before and well within an hour the shipping charges were confirmed removed. Once again when I filled out the customer service questionnaire I asked them to PLEASE re-address their policy to avoid the extra steps involved.

Is it humanly possible to order LESS than $35 worth of stuff?? 😉

And Prime vs Super Saver? as long as the shipping is free I'll call it whatever they want! I'll just have to remember to call and get the shipping refunded.

Ohhh - and I realized that since I travel for work I can just take an empty suitcase with me and bring home anything that will fit and not exceed the weight limit (I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes). I saw laundry soap mentioned as frequently bought online - what else would be worth the effort to bring to the island?

If indeed I fill that posters shoes, please go back and re-read my post with a little attention. I said you did not have to be a prime member nor did I say it was PRIME shipping. I said you had to have your order follow the guidelines and that the choice was not available on the page. Now do you understand why I re-posted it because you obviously did not get it the first time.

It was not in reference to your posts. Someone else had previously posted that Prime shipping was available here because they know someone who had done it. I posted the text and link from Amazon that said it was not, and said I would verify. I did get confirmation from Amazon that it wasn't available, but neglected to come back and post that here. So I thought I'd mention it on this post, because the new post I was responding to mentioned free Prime shipping. I really don't want anyone misled thinking that a Prime membership here has that benefit, and wasting money because of it. That is all.

My reading comprehension and my ability to follow a thread are just fine. So no, I still don't understand why you re-posted before, as you were talking about Super Saver and I was not. But it's not keeping me awake at night.

Yes. It was easier when it was $25. I am still amazed at the number of things that can be bought for under $10 with free shipping in states (non-Amazon merchants). Almost feel sorry for ordering that stuff. Almost.

My last trip to STX from states we came with 4 checked bags and flew back with two. Those two checked bags had the other two bags inside:-)

Well folks, just placed another order with Amazon and now they are saying they do not have any free shipping to US VI and all previous free shipping for all of us was only done by courtesy exception. Which of course is what their web site says. Had to haggle quite a bit to get another exception. Anyone know the name of the supervisor that said the real policy covers free Supersaver shipping to US VI? And I ordered almost $300 of eligible stuff weighing only a couple pounds.
