trw,
Not that you would understand but "all "who served paid income tax on what we earned, we worked longer hours than most and not under the best of circumstances. The benefits that we earned have eroded on a yearly basis with congressional budget restraints and cuts. So for you arm chair quarter backs that think that over fifty five thousand American lives and two million wounded plus the other millions that served were baby killers you need real help. We who served need not apologize.

So now we're talking SS? This is a system my generation is paying into but one I likely won't see the benefit from. I would be nice if they did some reform to SS and Medicare/Medicade. Before trying to tackle a whole new system. There are so many that don't prepare anything for retirement, that these really need to be addressed first. Especially with the motherlode of the baby boomers all retiring.

I've have said all along that pharmaceutical reform would have a drastic impact on health care. Too bad those companies make soooo much money that they are able to buy most of the politicians out there so that reform will never happen. Have you heard any politician discuss the need for Pharmaceutical reform or looking into the FDA and how decisions are made about prescription drug control?
We don't really need national health care - we need to reform the parts of our system that are out of control (tort reform, pharmaceutical reform and deporting illegal aliens instead of treating their every cold in an emergency room) and it will save BILLIONS each year and costs would come down to affordable levels for everyone. Health care providers charge uninsured and under-insured people 3 to 20 times the amount they accept from insurance carriers. Reform health care charges so that everyone pays the same fee for the same service, remove Inter-State competition barriers so the insurance becomes affordable for everyone. I also think that health care should not be tied to your employment so it can stay with you as you change jobs.
I worked in the insurance industry for 12 years and I currently use government run health care. I have also recently had some health care issues. I now have a very thick folder of heath care provider bills and "Explanation of Benefits" from the government health care. The paperwork alone is unbelievable not to mention the thousands of dollars the government refuses to pay the providers. Now I have to spend hours wading through all of it before I figure out how to pay all that I am being billed for. I do not believe that government run heath care is in our best interests and it certainly is not an efficient system. Just my opinion...
