Power outage East end St. Croix

Um, it will take some time. The procedure is they check the main line (along the road) and disconnect all the communities, then energize the main line. While this is happening, other crews go into the communities to repair the damage. As each community is repaired, it is reconnected to the main line.

The crew was working along the road the morning after Irma, and they were making good time. Now we wait as crews repair communities along the way. There is some significant damage in Cotton Valley/Hope and Carton Hill.

Power is up in parts of Cotton Valley.
There are lines down and a snapped pole on Cotton Valley Trail, just south of the firehouse. Low lines by the firehouse as well. I'm sure there's more further in toward Hope & Carlton.

Power is on in areas of East End--I saw 3 WAPA trucks at Ziggy's this afternoon. It will take time.; we've all been out since 6 am Wed.

There has been no power in Hermon Hill since dawn the day of Irma. I know each area is different in terms of who comes on next but.... we depend on a cistern for our water and have no means to run the pump. The rainwater we collected has been used. I know it has been coming on in other spots sporadically on St. Croix, to include Beeston Hill across the street, but I am wondering if any consideration/priority is made for the areas that don't have city water. It is a sanitary/ health issue when you have no water on top of power. Wapa after hours not answering.

Folks with cisterns and no generator typically have a bucket and rope on hand for getting water out. I don't know about WAPA but power companies typically try to prioritize repairs that will get power back to the most people with each repair. The lines with the fewest people on them would be the last ones to get fixed.

WAPA replaced the pole I described earlier and are currently transferring and repairing the lines.

We see more lights over on Seven Hills tonight. Progress.

Feeling for my STT and STJ friends. Luckily all accounted for and ok but their videos are unbelieveable.

I haven't had power since tuesday at 11pm when my transformer blew (I knew I was screwed when that happened) this is in carlton by kmart west.

I guess I'll get it back sometime next week... luckily I have solar and a generator so I'm just paying a bit more but still have actual power (and finally internet as of today).

Power is back in Hermon Hill. So grateful. Not so sure certain roads should be open on St. Croix. Just past Arawak Camp (the road you take to casino and Boy Scout Camp) there is a downed light pole with wires. Caution flags are tied to it, but that road is dark. Someone just crashed into tbe wires tonight. He's o.k. It comes up on you suddenly there. Be safe and take care driving, all....

We had our power restored in Rattan about 8:30 last night only to have the generator spring to life @ 3:30 this morning. Hope they come back for the fix soon, running low on propane.

WAPA has restored 100% of feeder 4A.

We are in Feeder 4A an are still on generator and waiting for refueling of Propane.
