Hello all,

I'm looking into moving and was interested in any information about the health department. I've worked as a paramedic for the last 20 years and am finishing my MS in public health. I would appreciate any information!!

Jeff: If you are looking at EMS jobs, their pay is probably significantly lower than what you get. There was a listing of salaries in the paper last week, not sure if it is on line. Or are you looking at something different?

EE,
I would love to continue to work on an ambulance part time if possible, but would like to do something more! I feel like I have need a change and that is why I went back to school. I enjoy meeting people! My degree is focused on disaster management but is open to all aspects of public health. I will be doing my internship (hopefully) in disease outbreaks, after returning form vacation. I'm head down to STX in 20 days for our final PMV. We have visited all the islands!

If you have a degree in disaster management you should check with FEMA.
