Hello everyone! We are visiting St.Croix soon to look for a place to live for a few years. My husband is an Airport Employee and will be transfering to St.Croix Airport. We would like to know where to look for housing, there seem to be alot of listings for the Christensted area and east end but we would like to be within 15 to 20 minutes drive to work. It would be nice to narrow our search down to several areas that are within that time of driving distance. Thanks for any suggestions.....see ya soon!!

Thank you, as we looked at rentals posted on several real estate sites we were not sure exactly where they were located, guess we will find out when we get there..... using some of maps available became confusing. Just excited and can't wait to visit.

Actually nothing is really more than 20 +- minutes from the airport (depending on traffic and time of day). I recommend that you do not decide on a rental until you have actually seen the house and the neighborhood. Once you are here and get a feel for different places you will be better able to make a decision. In the mean time check out all the websites you can find and spend some time on Google Earth.

For your first year I would recommend you pick something center island. If you decide to stay after a year, you'll know where you want to live. There are many things that are further then 20 minutes from the airport. I live east and I'm about 30 minutes if you live far east you're about 45 minutes. If you live far north west or north shore you'll be far away as well.

Center island is convenient because it is generally close to everything. Gerenerally speaking most of the neighborhoods around there are good working class to middle class neighborhoods and are mostly safe. But you absolutely need to be on island first to look at them. Also there's not just your husband to think about what you'll need to be close to your work as well.

Even if you are far east you can always go down the south shore, a beautiful drive and pretty quick to the airport.

There are West End locations less than 15 minutes from Airport via the main highway. West End views and beaches are our favorites. IMO, best to think of your first rental as possibly temporary and choose a neighborhood carefully in person.
