Good morning! I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. How would I go about shipping a car from STT to STX? I know that there is now a ferry running between the 2 islands, but are there any other issues? I would be purchasing the vehical off site (friend of a friend) and need to then get it to STX.
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.
Theresa

The new ferry will be for passengers only, no vehicles possible. You are purchasing the vehicle already on STT?

Recently shipped a Rav 4 from St Thomas to St Croix on the Norma H.
Only option I found. About $300.

That sounds reasonable. Looking for an island car (inexpensive as possible) to get us around the island and back and forth to work for 4-5 months. Rentals are crazy expensive from the prices I've looked at online. Craigslist doesn't seem to have much of a selection in my lower price range for STX so I reached out to some folks to see if STT had a better selection and found a couple. Just curious as to how to go about buying and shipping.

I'm sure there are plenty of cars in your price range for sale on STX - not everyone advertises on craigslist. Rent a car on STX for a week and start looking around. Buying a car on STT sight unseen through craigslist and trusting a friend of a friend and a mechanic (cost about $100) to steer you right is just a very bad idea in my opinion.

Getting the car titled in your name is tricky when you're not on island, plus you'll need to have the vehicle insured in your name unless the seller is willing to carry the present insurance for the transshipment. By the time you've paid an expediter for all the paperwork involved, a mechanic to check the vehicle, paid the shipping fee and just hoping that the car is really what you want, you've wasted several hundred dollars when I'm sure there's something on STX in your price range which you can try before you buy and save all the hassle.

Plus, there is probably less where an tear on cars on STX v.s. STT with it being flatter and easier to drive.

Norma H is the ONLY company that ships from St. Thomas to St. Croix. I use them all the time and recommend them 100%

The STX buy and sell FB page, since that's where the OP is moving to:
