I plan to ship my vehicle to STT. What freight companies have people used? I am shipping from Boston and have a quote from Blue Ocean for pick up in Boston or Ft Lauderdale or Jacksonville, FL. Thanks in advance.

I dealt with Viking on the STT end to ship personal items to FL.
Don't ship a car. Beris Lynch here on STT was very nice, very helpful, very responsive to any and all of my inquiries and questions. I chose them due to the fact they came to house, packed up what I wished to take with me and cleared customs and provide door to door service.

The STT office number is 340-776-1536. Rebecca is the secretary there. Her contact is 340-714-4057 and Beris is president of company here
340-513-2793.

Maybe they can advise you if they provide services in your location.
Good luck!

I recently use International Logistics in STT to get a car from Tampa to STT and have them get it road ready as well. They arranged all of the transport, paid all of the taxes, registered the car, and it was ready to go. Cost will vary depending on the vehicle (where it was made, how much it ways) but my little Subaru, picked up in Tampa, taken to Port Everglades, shipped to STT, taxes paid, car registered, and 'service fee' for their handling everything, came to a total cost of just under $2,500. They use Crowly, the ocean freight alone for the car was $1,350 (or $1,400 if it was out of Jacksonville). So much easier to use these guys and just have them do all of the running around to get things road ready. I've used these guys twice over the years.

Thank you both for your feedback. Whatever company I decide to go with, I had already planned to use their person to do the pick up at the cargo dock, pay the moving fee, the road fee, registration/inspection. Waiting at the RMV takes a long time here in Boston, so I can't imagine doing it when everyone is on island time! Well worth paying someone to take care of that end.
I was hoping to stuff my pick up truck passenger side with kitchen stuff and clothing, but of course that's not allowed (at least by Blue Ocean).

We are using Blue Ocean right now for our move to STX next week. They are shipping our car and pallets of household items.
Very impressed with them from day one!
We drove from Ohio to Florida to reduce the cost for the car, but delivered our items for the pallets to a terminal close to us in Ohio. It's my impression that all vehicles must be empty. I don't think it is a Blue Ocean policy.

I think I recall reading that's a customs requirement now.

We used Meme with International Logistics out of STT to move to STX. We shipped out of Jacksonville. Easy peas you, picked up vehicles and they took care of the tags after we got proof of insurance to them. They advertise on this website.

Thanks for all the feedback. I misread the weight on my vehicle and originally reported it to Blue Ocean as weighing 1000 pounds more than it actually is. I called them back and was surprised that the quote didn't change. I know it will reduce the road fee in STT, but I will be calling all of the ones you have used to just see if the rates are that different. $1475 if they ship it from FL or $2375 if they pick up in Boston.
We're finally buying a condo here after 12 years of researching and looking. Despite WAPA, bad roads and hurricanes, I just love STT. And I won't be moving here full time, so can still have the conveniences of Boston when I'm here. Looking forward to no more New England winters.
I"m also guessing anyone who lives on the island will see me because I will be driving one of my company trucks, which says "Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap"on the side. We do junk removal here (and I'm an AC/DC fan). Since it doesn't say "junk removal" on my small pick up, folks sometimes think we offer slightly more devious services! LOL!

We shipped my truck here in 2013 from Miami (Port Everglades) on Sea Star (now TOTE). Cost around $1450. Had a bit of drama at the port because the agent told us we could load up the bed as long as it was covered and locked. The shipping company disagreed, they had discontinued the practice because of theft in PR and did not have a rate for a loaded vehicle. After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, signing of waivers, and phone calls from the port manager to the company president, our truck was shipped at no extra cost to us but with a promise that the agent on St Thomas would get a bill for the excess weight.

The agent who "misinformed" us was Meme at International Logistics.

We shipped my SUV and husband's truck in November 2012 and that must've been the last year allowed to pack bed of truck. Meme was probably still telling people that you could. We bought an accordion style cover and packed away. We were able to bring tools, household items, art, dishes, etc. sorry that the rules changed before you came!
