I'm still wishing there was a ferry from STT to STX. How much is air fare on average?

I believe around $250 RT. Check Cape Air and Seaborne.

Damn! I'd just stay put. IT's too bad they don't have a ferry between the 2 islands.

Doubt they'll have one in the future. It is a long and often times, rough ride across open ocean between islands. Very different from hopping on a ferry to get to STJ and back in 30 min. You've got 36 miles from sea buoy to sea buoy from C'sted harbor to Charlotte Amalie.

The deep trench between the islands makes for a very nasty ride.

Knowing that the ferry service was known locally as, "The Barf Barge" or, "The Vomit Comet" should be sufficient explanation!

Petra: When living in the Caribbean, the old Stones tune: "You can't always get what you want" comes to mind frequently. 😉

I love that song and I will be listening to it as I watch the sunset. 🙂

I just know that it might not be in the budget to go to STX or PR for the first year. But I will asap as after doing the research there are a lot of things I would like to do on STX.

For major events on STX, there's usually a ferry that takes people over for the day. There's definitely one during Christmas holidays and usually one for the Ag Fair. Ads are published in local paper. I've done it a few times.

So, since there isn't a ferry from STT to STX. I'm just curious... If we moved to STT and wanted to get off the island for a day or 2, are there any other ferrys that go to other islands other than STJ?

There are ferries to the BVI. Google for schedules.

The ride can be thrilling. Last time I was sitting up top and waves were crashing up to our seats. Very rough, but you're less prone to seasickness if you're outside.

You'll find the interisland ferry schedule on the Travel Message Board, top right. Ferries to Tortola, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda in the BVI - passports required.

$250 RT? That's waaay too high.

Seaflight: $160 round trip, but $1/lb if you bring over 25 lbs, so not recommended if bringing a suitcase.

Seaborne: $120-200 round trip. $10 for ticket changes. Suitcase is $25 extra, so unless you're getting one of the cheaper fares, you may want to reconsider if you're bringing a suitcase.

Cape Air: $160-180 round trip. First suitcase free. They also do not charge for ticket changes! They also are not delayed like Seaborne. I usually go with Cape Air for my STX-STT trips.
