I have had lunch several times at the Carambola Golf Club since the manager and Kenny the Chef parted ways. I miss Kenny's cooking and his wife Heather's prompt service. They've got a new crew doing pretty good. Prices have gone up a bit. Service is back to being a bit sketchy depending on who you get. (We sat down for brunch with 7 of us and the food arrived before the silverware. And I had to track down the bill when we were well ready to go. Not getting the bill when I'm done eating is a pet peeve of mine.)

They are now open for Sunday brunch again. $14 for Eggs Benedict this past Sunday. It was delicious. After all this time here you'd think I'd be used to that, but it still seems high to me, and thus, will affect the frequency of my visits. The $3.50 hotdog for lunch, though, is still a weiner.

We stop by Pizza Gusto yesterday for lunch. They have pizza, sandwiches and pasta.
The pizza was delicious. We each got an individual pizza. I had mushroom which was $6 and my husband had the meat lovers which was $7. We both had left overs.
Pizza Gusto is located on Centerline rd. right after Crucian Wings.

We had a fantastic breakfast out at Blue Water Cafe this past Oct and had take out several times that was delicious. The atmosphere was so nice, beautiful morning to eat outside with the blue water as our view! Good service, too. We were lucky to get a table along the rail. I don't like the tall tables that seat 4. I'm guessing that's what people have been complaining about at Topside, too? The morning we were at Blue Water all the tables were full, even some people at the bar--- but all the tall tables were empty.

We have been to Blue Water several times, and the food has always been good.

Just spent a few days in San Juan, and I finally got my Mexican food fix. Tiajuana's, on the Condado. Outstanding!

Had dinner at Kendricks last night in downtown Christiansted. Always great food and great service. And the beautiful setting was made spectacular by the full moon rising through the palms. Wish I could afford to eat there more often!

Went to Above the Cliff last night.
Dinner was great and Tim the bartender provides good service.
They had R&B Connection there, what a great band. The owner told me that R&B Connection will be there every Friday night starting January 7th from 7-10. If you haven't seen them go check them out.

Had lunch at the new Pirates Tavern at Salt River Marina where the old Columbus Cove used to be. Homemade Mexican food on the menu! Even the tortilla chips were homemade and the Salsa was killer. Burger and dogs too. $3 domestics, big portions, quick service. They're still fixing up the joint but this is a very welcome addition. Didn't notice a breakfast menu or hours.

We had dinner at Topside last week. The food was below average, and the prices were above average. They need to fix one of the two. The multi-page menu was a red flag. It's hard to offer that many dishes and have them all taste good. My wife had the nachos with beef (about $12) with a side of guacamole. The dish was warm, not hot. The side of guacamole (about 1.5 ounces for $3.99 extra) was gray. The food had little flavor. When she complained that the guacamole was gray, the server explained that that was normal when it comes in contact with air, and the jar had just been opened and the top part was already gray. (It was green on my chimichanga, so I guess I got the second scoop). When my wife called the server over to complain again about the gray guacamole, and how it was inexcusable, the server said, "I'll tell the owner." The correct response would have been, "I'm sorry, I'll take it off the check."

On the plus side, they started us with free nacho chips and salsa (but no flavor), the tables and chairs are nice, and the service was speedy, although the place was nearly empty.

I actually liked topside, but just the sandwiches. Although it is too far out of the way for me to go regularly.

I will have to try Pirates Tavern soon, but would like to give it some time to settle down. I have gone to way too many places on opening night and it usually is a disaster.

I'm hoping that the Pirates Tavern will offer breakfast soon. That would be great for the N. Shore since there is no where for breakfast if you want it.
I'm also hoping they expand the menu a little, I don't eat much Mexican food.

Funny -- given your name, I would have guessed otherwise! 😀

We ate lunch at Pirate's Tavern last week. I loved the chili and got a side of the cole slaw because it was amazing! I'll definitely go back and try more!

Good to hear. i drove past it on Sunday and although they said they were open, it looked like they were still under construction. we'll have to try it out.

We just had lunch at the new Pirate's Tavern in the Salt River Marina. 340-778-9650. Open 7 days, 11-9.

The food and service were very good. We had chips and salsa ($2.50), Quesadilla ($10.50) and Chalupas ($12.50). Most of the menu is Mexican and freshly made. Also burgers, dogs, tuna melt, grilled cheese, fries. They say that normally, they can prepare any dish in 10 minutes. They are still constructing the outer dining area. They will move the staircase, so it’ll be one big dining area. They plan to get live music and breakfast going later. It’s a breath of fresh air for Salt River and a very different experience from the old Columbus Cove Restaurant that was there.

Went to Chenay for $2 taco night and I'm not expecting much it's only $2 after all. And they are big, very generous in size. But the taste was super bland, so I asked for some salsa. And the guy tells me there's pico de gallo on the tacos. I"m excited even for something so simple but it was just tomatoes and onions and nothing else, but they thought that was pico. I mean there's not much else to pico but without the lime, cilantro and especially the jalapeño and it needs to rest for at least 4 to 8 hours. But their Margaritas were excellent, so I will go back and bring my own condiments next time. 🙂

Topside is just getting worse, they have no concept of Mexican food. And the rest of their food is super bland. And the british owner guy just sits at the bar and stares at you when you eat. He needs to lighten up big time. I can deal with bad service but not that.

I'm scared to try the new pirates place for just being disappointed again. At this point I would kill for TexMex, but will settle for making Mexican myself until then. I

My wife & I, plus a couple of our friends had dinner at Above The Cliff Monday night. I had one of their new menu items - (2) 5oz beef patties, on fresh cut french fries (my choice), covered with chili, chedder & jack cheese, & jalapenos. A very generous portion of food for only $14. My wife had a superb 10oz NY Strip with a very generous portion of FF for $21. The steak was done to perfection (med rare) and was super juicy & tender. Excellent service thanks to Tim and also thanks to Chris who is running a 1st class operation there.

We have been there about 5-6 times and everytime have had something different. It's all been excellent.
