got up at 4:30 this am had coffee surfed the computer fed the dogs and cats started the sprinkler on the fruit trees, ran to the corner store for smokes and the papers, no avis only the news, came back home read that in 2 minutes, left to get my haircut by dave downtown, did that then just kinda wandered, stopped by christines and said hello, bought more smokes at steeles went to sonya's to have my hook cleaned and bought a new bracelet as well then went to the larsen/mitchell studio to have a look around and then went to bongo's for a bowl of fruit and then on the drive home and listened to shelley morehead on free speech. i guess wherever i went today people were happy, they were happy to see me, they were happy i spent money, they were great even when i was just looking and not buying, there were tourists roaming the streets, traffic was easy as was parking, i dunno, for all the bad we hear about we seldom hear the good anymore.

I appreciate threads like this! Kind of "A day in the life of..."

For a prospective resident of one of the islands, it's nice to read.

Thanks

TRW, what a great outlook you have on life.... more people should be like you.. You are the reason I love St. Croix and the people there.

I had a good morning too on STT. Traffic wasn't bad for 4 ships being here & I think the road/intersection improvement by Lucinda Millin Home might just help. As usual, drivers were courteous & let me in off my road. I was thinking on the way that it was one of the prettiest drives to have to take daily to work that there is.

Even the newspaper lady was right by the road instead of sitting in her chair so the traffic wasn't held up by her having to get up & come over to sell the newspaper.

Nice to hear about your day!

Beautiful day today. Hubby, our 4 year old and I went with our daughter to the north shore so she could show us the sugar mill that her and her boyfriend have chosen for their site to get married. It is a beautiful place with an incredible view. We then went to lunch at off the wall and lingered over a few drinks while our son hunted for crabs on the beach. A wonderful memorable day in paradise that I will treasure. I love St. Croix.

There was a couple there with a small child. Mother and father were taking turns walking around with him/her. My little boy was on the rocks as always hunting his beloved crabs. We call him the great crab hunter.. He has auburn (red) hair and he looks like he is 6.

Maybe we ought to just keep this thread going & report on our day-to-day activities? Frustrations and all. I'm off tomorrow & know what I'll be doing. Taking myself out for breakfast at Delly Deck in Havensight (only one ship in) where I'll order my favorite, a breakfast burrito.

well just got back from getting my pizza and it was nice to see bogeys so packed the cars were lined down to the waves, and the bar at the waves was busy and poor diana at off the wall looked wrung out from being busy, those 3 businesses have recently changed hands and i love the fact that they are busy because the owners are great people who deserve good things, they've invested their heart and souls here.

After checking the house construction at Catherina's Hope And watching the reflection of the sunset on the clouds and sipping a cocktail, we stopped at Lori's at the Reef and got a huge turkey dinner to go. We went home and ate on the gallery overlooking STX yacht club and Buck island while listening to Enya. Truly a wonderful evening.
But, back to work today and a long weekend coming up. We so happy to be engaged with the island of St. Croix.
The only regret I can conjure up is, why didn't I do this sooner?

I never eat breakfast unless I go out but ate too much meeting a friend who had virtuously already worked out this AM. I was up watching TV late last night so it was nice to come home this AM to light showers & take a nap & spend a few hours reading. Forgot to get a paper.

You guys are cracking me up! I ate breakfast at home, came to work around 8:30am and have been sitting on my butt, at a computer, all day long, freezing in the a/c and with way-too-bright fluorescent lights overhead. Get to leave in an hour for a three day weekend.

Didn't get much done on the housework today. Spent most of the day on the computer dealing with a new payroll and tax issues with my accountant. In between the phone calls, faxing and emails I engaged in imature behavior and name calling on another post. It certainly helped me deal with my state side business stress. LOL. Can't wait to get everyone tucked into bed and sit on my porch with a good book and listen to the ocean. Maybe the stars will be out. Have a good afternoon everyone.

I guess I was in the sun too much today! However while wearing my rose colored glasses, I read a statement to a reptile that there is a banana belt - that's a narrow coastal strip that has sunshine in Washington State. It's been a good day.

Lizard I was hoping that you would weigh in. I can't wait to meet you. You are one of my favorite posters. I will show up on one of your beaches and introduce myself soon. How is your dog? I want to meet him as well. Between you and I is your skin scaley like a reptile? Just wondering. LOL. Take care.

lol Lizard, just got home from work, slow night but productive, i did nothing today before work except to run over to the bucanneer to the real estate office to try and find a one time only whole house cleaner upper person, the buc looks nice, they are doing renovations again and everyone is so polite there, i saw elizabeth and hardly recognized her with short hair and no sun hat, well i did'nt recognize at first i guess, it took awhile for it to sink in who she was, left there and drove over to f'sted to the deli for an ultimate club, breads to thick but it was good, drove up and down the 3 streets of f'sted to have a look around and then stopped to get gas at the church's chicken gas station and then came home to get ready for work, the dred guy at the pisser corner had clothes on today and did not looked to wacked out hahaha, all in all another good day here.

What's a pisser corner? If it's what I think it is, we have one here in a bend in the road by Antilles school. It's where a lot of taxi drivers stop to pee. Lizard, are you still mayor?

I spent too much time playing online Scrabble last night but have to meet another friend for breakfast or lunch & listen to her tales of woe re her condo association meeting. Enjoy your weekend, all.

Trade, it's the corner of paradise road and centerline here out west, the man has lived in the bush and worked that corner for years,he's really tall and thin with some great dreds but sometimes he just lets it all hang out instead of going into the bush, hence the name "the pisser" corner.

Cleaning like mad today. I gave hubby a honey do list which he gratefully accepted in order not to walk around aimlessly asking how he could help. Tomorrow the first of the wild bunch will arrive on STX. By Wednesday the rest will be here. Four crazy, loud, incorrigible Scots. My husbands brothers. First time in 5 years that they have all been together. Scary thought. You will know us when you see us. I will be the 5'2" blond trying to keep them in line. If you see them out alone you will know I gave up.

I woke up to a sunny, beautiful day, threw open the curtains and was treated to a sailboat race in front of our condo at Coakley Bay. I counted 15 sailboats racing. I got a cup of coffee, sat down on the deck and watched the race. As I know nothing about racing (originally I just thought it was a bunch of sailboats coincidentally all together in the same area), my husband gave me the play by play of what was happening. As I understand it, it was a perfect morning for racing--good wind, but a calm sea. Really makes me wish I knew how to sail. Two days ago I was in the freezing cold of the Northeast and now I can enjoy a sailboat race just outside my window. True paradise.

living here we sometimes take things for granted, like me for instance, i have never been to buck island, the cruzan rum factory, i've never been out on a boat except once back in the 90's, i have'nt snorkled for years, never learned to dive, never gone on either of the horseback rides or done one of the island adventure eco-tours, heck i live 3 blocks from the beach and have not been there for about 3 years, i work 2 jobs because i want the house paid off by the time i'm 50 and then work in the yard, i have a half acre and it's time consuming, or just running and doing errands.i try to get to the movie theatre here once a week or so and i use the library alot, i seldom hit the bars and it's usually just the cane bay places at night when i get off work and i'm in my neighborhood, i still would never exchange my personal "rat race" here for anything in the states.
