well obama is speaking to the un right now, he just basically smacked israel and the palestinians over the head right now publically and told them both to grow up,he also just told al quaeda there is no safe haven so i guess we're going to invade pakistan again or the un is going to,you see what i mean it's all about religious differences and until organized religion is wiped out there is always going to be armed conflict,oh they all say it's all about peace and making the world safe for our children, never gonna happen folks until organized religion is gone

i had tim drive the jeep to the corner store he said it was fine so i just called off the wall for a pizza to go, lol thats about a mile from the house and a good practice run for me,my first instinct is to sell the jeep and get something else, all told with repairs, registration and insurance cost me about 2 grand and it still needs new tires and a master cylinder in the near future, but it'll get me from point a to point b and thats all i want it to do, work and home, aa and home

one of the lawyers told me that a "payday" advance loan agency is setting up shop here, this is not good, it's just another word for loan sharking, do we really need more headaches and hardship here on STX?

Keep practicing, you'll learn to love driving a stick.

True about the payday advance company.

i can't believe the dlca is letting them in, those places prey on the least fortunate in our society and with the interest rates they charge people can NEVER pay them off,i'd say something to the lawyer handling the company but i'm afraid of losing his business at work

Not true. You pay them the ridiculously high (but regulated) interest up front.

Sorry, trw. I should have worded that better. It was the "never pay them off" part of your comment that I was addressing. It's not a loan that you can pay back over time. By signing over the rights to your paycheck, you have essentially paid them before the check is ever issued. As for the remainder of your comment, no argument here.

My daughter took out one of those outragous title loans here stateside in Illinois that charged 300% interest, yep you heard it right 300%! When she came to me to tell me about the loan and showed me the documents I immediately called my bank to see if these kind of loans were legal and he told us that unfortunately they are because they don't fall under the same regulations that banks do.

Needless to say I went down with my daughter to there place of business to just pay off the loan and be done with these unscrupulous people. I asked them how they can sleep at night knowing that they are preying on those that can least afford it. Although I am usually quite reserved I couldn't help myself. I told the woman that she was worse than a whore, at least a whore only screws themselves but you are screwing everyone else.

trw,
I took dirver's ed in high school. The instructor told me he would have failed me if he didn't know I would be driving an automatic. LOL...my first car was a 5 speed sports car, and I learned quickly about down shifting. Great fun! You will learn to love it. Careful on the steep inclines.

Assie,

See why I got so hot-headed with those people?

They are crooks working through a technical loophole hitting those who can least afford it. In my daughters case she was 18, young and niave and wanted to get some quick cash and had clear title for an explorer that her father had given her. Believe me, she had some explaining to do once we cleared everything up for her. I truly hope that she learned her lesson.

Greetings Molly

Yes, I sure do. Thanks for opening my eyes. I'm glad that you were able to get your daughter out of that mess.

trw, I owe you a sincere apology. You were right on the money. Sorry.

Well, I'm divorced from her father who gave her the car and the title so that she could register it in Illinois and then with me having to pay off the title loan does sting a bit. I feel so bad for the people that really need this instant cash for an emergency but probably will not be able to pay it back. Chances are that family couldn't help them out in the first place. In my case my daughter didn't have a real emergency to need the money, I'm going to say it again that I REALLY hope that she learned her lesson. What was that saying, "Fool me once....".

s'ok aussie,no worries, i ran into the lawyer whose firm is bringing these people down here and he told me they are here as an edc company, they will not be offering these loans here because the population base is so small, but they are legal loan sharks charging very high rates stateside the they funnel the money through the virgin islands and basically pay no taxes, gee can i buy stock in that company, lol when i asked him the details i played dumb and said someone told me a pay day loan company was coming done have you heard anything about this and then he said yes and proceeded to tell me the whole story

oh and one of the downtown drug dealers told me a very good piece of advice today and i wanted to pass it on, if your vehicle is easy access or you just don't lock it you should take a razor blade and put alot of up and down and sideways slices in your window registration sticker so that when the badboys try to steal it it comes away in little pieces instead of 4 big chunks, this will deter them because it takes too long to get the whole thing, they can sell them on the street for 80-90 bucks, getting the hang of a stick coming home on north shore road i only had to downshift twice and thats by the 2 house on the water each place is on a somewhat of a hairpin turn, the crescent moon looks great tonight btw

the daughter of a couple of cafe customers is going to college in pittsburg and a regular group of country day teachers were in for dinner and i asked if they remembered her and they said yeah and i said it's pretty cool she gets to witness history because the g-20 summit is being held there this week and all the riots and protests are going to be so cool and they agreed and said that she started to post stuff about it on her facebook page and that they were proud of her cause she was paying attention to history in the making.
