Good afternoon, everyone ---

Looking for information on places in St. Croix -- non-profits, service organizations, community groups, etc. -- who are looking for volunteers to donate their TIME and ENERGY to the improvement of our community.

I would love it if you could post or PM me with:
Name of Organization
Purpose (.e.g., animals, environmental, homelessness)
Contact info

(I of course already know about the Animal Welfare Shelter, Women's Coalition, Queen Louise Home, VI Care, St. Croix Environmental Associaiton -- who doesn't? I'd like to find out about the places I may not already see online or hear on the radio.)

If there's already a resource in place that compiles this information, please point me in the right direction. If not...I'm on it!!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Jamison!

Anyone else know of any groups that are doing good work on St. Croix and could use some more help?

Check out Lutheran Social Services of the VI on Facebook...they've regularly been posting pictures of their acts of service.

I would love any more input.

Thank you.

Seriously, look in the phone book - pg. 42 has a list of Community Services Organizations, many of which I am sure would love to have volunteers.

LSS - Lutheran Social Services helps so many here and on STT. They would love to answer the question, "how can I help?"

Just bumping this one back up to the top -- to see if anyone knows of any more STX local organizations that could use a hand.

And to encourage all of you to choose a local issue that's important to you and find a way to volunteer!

Im going to put it out there even though I've already told you jwsommer....

CASA - court appointed special advocates. The help children who become wards of the court system who do not qualify for QLH or LSS> We always donate toys at XMas and my kids b-days since many of those kids don't get them at all. Also, with school starting up, a lot of their kids need uniforms, school supplies, etc. CASA also is the organization who does Pennies from Heaven and the XMas cards.

Rotary - We end up helping most of the organizations mentioned throughout the year on the different projects we do. There are four clubs on island so one is bound to meet at t time that works for your schedule.

The schools can always use extra help! I teach at Ricardo Richards Elementary School, and we are stretched to the max this year - any help would be appreciated!

Thank you, everyone!

usvichic -- Hey girl, I am just now seeing this -- please go post on the FB page more about CASA! 🙂 I just put a link to the website and the STX email contact I could find, would love to see your personal experience on there.

kimd - I just "liked" the RotarySTX pages I could find on Facebook, and will continue to share information I can find online. Thank you!

I love Ricardo Richards! MeowRuff, would you care to provide a contact person to call about volunteering? Please check out the FB page or post here or PM me with any details of what you're looking for so I can spread the word!

Jamison, I know who you are! Not a common name, I guessed it was you as soon as I saw the "like!"

Julie

p.s. St. Croix is awesome. Island living isn't for everyone, especially right now on STX, but if you're thinking about moving here and read this far in this message...WE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go STX!
