Right now I'm on AT&T which, as I understand it, is the best network for STX. I'm not on contract and I really want one of the new Android phones that T-Mobile is coming out with. Does anyone know how well their network operates out here? Do they have 3G on STX?

No T-mobile. Only ATT and Sprint.

I have a G-1 (Android) phone from T-Mobile.

I was on island for a week last memorial day. There must be some type of sharing arrangement between AT&T and T-Mobile. I had great reception on most of St. Croix in the flatter areas to the south (actually made a call to the states from the Good Hope / Whim area) and in Christiansted. I stayed at the Carambola and over that hillside against the ocean there you can forget about any kind of signal whatsoever, but for most of the open parts of the Island from Christiansted west, the signal was excellent.

Does the AT&T network out here support 3G? Maybe I'll give in and just get an iPhone.

So T-mobile does work? I heard it does from other people. I have unicel but I was going to bring a T mobile pre-paid phone that I thought was going to work,

On the plan I have, I don't believe T-Mobile charges me anything for "roaming". I often am in non-T-Mobile teirritory, but I have never had to pay what you would call a "roaming fee" for my calls or data usage. In the states when I am on a non-T-Mobile network, I ave noticed no extra cost for my calls. On St. Croix, there might have been a small extra charnge, but it was more for being out of the states rather than for "roaming".

Yes, we have the 3G network down here. I usually always have service, except for the northshore and certain parts of my house. My iPhone gives me the ability to pick up WiFi in different available spots.
