How much are taxis from the airport to Christiansted. Our place we are renting is located by the Christiansted by pass and was wondering how much taxi fares usually are from the airport.

These listings have always been posted on the St.Croix Source, so I'm not sure if they're still accurate or have been updated over the years.

Why not rent a car for a couple days so you can shop for groceries and explore a bit while you get settled in? It might be less costly in the long run.

Hope your rental meets your expectations since we generally advise not to rent, "site unseen."

Hope all goes well and smoothly for you.

It looks like renting a car for a day is cheaper than your trip from the airport might be.

Yeah but you have to be 21 to rent a car out there and I'm 20 so that option is out the window

A babe in the woods or in this case, in de bush, mon!

You do realize that August and September are the slowest months
to look for/find jobs as height off-season and many businesses (bars and restaurants) close in Sept.?

Sept. is also traditionally the height of hurricane season tho recent years have had us see more storms in October.

We paid about $40 for that exact trip almost 2 years ago, without realizing that the host at our condo would have picked us up.

In answer to the OP, it's about $17.00 for two people, plus $2.00 a bag for luggage.

not sure yet. I might have to buy a car right away unless I can figure something out. I will figure it out when we get there.

Thanks Linda j lol. I don't have a high standard of living. All I need is a little efficiency and some food. I don't need to make a lot of money. Just enough to pay rent. Buy groceries and have a little left for what ever I want to spend it on, that's it

Are there still the minivan bus type taxis that go around the main routes of the island? I remember a couple of years ago I took one from C-sted to Frederiksted for only about $2.00 (or maybe $5?). It stopped along to the way to pick up other people or let them out. It did take awhile but it was cheap. I remember it stopped at Kmart also.

I was in St Croix 2 weeks ago to check out the island before I do a longer PMV. I took a taxi from the airport to Christensted. When the plane lands if there are other people headed in the same direction your cheapest bet is to all ride together. The more people the cheaper it will be. There is a board at the taxi stand with listed rates. 1 person is aprox $18.00 one way. Each person added the price drops significantly. I was by myself and really hungry so I asked the taxi driver to stop at a store. The 1st 5 min of the stop is no charge after that it's $1 per minute. By the time I got to my destination it was $60.00 I told him wow that was expensive so he said ok give me $40.00. It is definitely cheaper to rent a car for the day. $32.00. You will definitely need a car to get around

Jezzika, your experience was very odd. The rates are calculated by location, are set by the VI Taxi Commission ("waiting time" is also a pre-set rate), and I posted the rate schedule earlier on in this thread on May 14th. If you plan on getting around by taxi it's a good idea to print out the rate sheet and carry it with you and also (as advised on the rate sheet) confirm the price in advance with the driver.

Haven't taken a taxi in years so can't comment on the rates but it's standard procedure for taxis at STT airport to fill their vans with people and then proceed to drop them at their various destinations around the island. They charge per person plus additional for each piece of luggage.
