Any recommendations for a taxi from Gallows Bay to the airport?

What might be the fare?

Call one of the guys at the Buccaneer- 712-2100 ext 744. Ask about the fare, but I think it will be $40 or so.

Jacob's Taxi 690-9023

Don't know the rate, but these two guys take good care of one of our tenant's who doesn't have a car.

Thanks! In another display of STX generosity, a member of this forum volunteered to drive me from Gallows Bay to the airport. 🙂

I will really miss this place!

Long story. I went to Georgia as a Peace Corps Volunteer in 2003. It was a 2-year commitment. I stayed for seven years. I helped to found a new corruption-free university. We started with 25 MA students in American Studies in two borrowed rooms. In five years, we had 12 "colleges" and 3,000 students at all levels in three well renovated buildings. After seven years behind what is still in many ways the Iron Curtain, I decided I needed to retire.

Now the University has received financial support for a $10 million project from OPIC (Overseas Private Investment Corporation) http://www.opic.gov/. OPIC requires significant American participation; I'm the significant American participation!

I love St. Croix. I thought it would be my home for the rest of my life. But there is work to be done, and I don't want to come to the end of my days and say, "I could have done more."

I will be the commencement speaker in June for The University of Georgia in Tbilisi. I will tell the graduates about America's Paradise. I will also tell them that paradise is not a place but a journey, not where we are but what we are doing, that they will find a life of fulfillment through service.
