Yep. Only to have it go back off again, late last night.
Hope they've rectified the issue, finally.

We had 4 outages in 3 days. Guess it's better than one outage that lasts 3 days which has happened due to a driver impacting a wapa pole and taking out power to STT & STJ for that number of days. It's always best to be prepared.

i think last week we had a couple during the week and one on the saturday or sunday before. so depending 2-3 times a weeks. most are short, lasting 5-15 minutes. nothing serious usually.

i think my whole time on island we have had 3 major outages. 1 lasting about 10-12 hours, 1 during omar which lasted less than 2 days, one when the electrical pole fell down and we were without for about 6-8 hours.

the one the other day during the day was maybe 1-2 hours.

different parts of the island are affected differently and power gets restored at different times depending on the feeder you are on.

the hospital feeder and the downtown feeder are usually the first to come back . we live on the downtown feeder.

One good thing about having a Samsung phone is I am able to take the battery out and place it in a separate charger. I usually have three batteries charged plus the one in the phone.

You will have to go to a different Plan B with Samsung. The new Galaxy 6 battery isn't removable.

WAPA has decided to treat us to another outage tonight so that we can enjoy the starlight.

Will seriously need to check the generator fuel level in morning.
5 outages/3 days.
Think WAPA's trying for a new record. They probably could get into the Guinness World records for the most inefficient power provider.
Shall we nominate them?

Hope denvertired brought a flashlight!;)

Here's an update to the update:

http://stthomassource.com/content/news/local-news/2015/04/07/wapa-engages-two-hour-rotating-power-outage-schedule

They didn't have the outage in my location this morning from 8-10 as scheduled in the article.

I was speaking to my niece who lives on Grand Cayman.
She said that in the 4 years she and her family have been living there that outages are quite rare.

My other niece in Gainesville said she had a extremely short power interruption and the company actually called to apologize for the interruption in her service. Ha!

Here in the VI, it's more of a way of life.

Yes, it's something one has to be aware of and make accommodation for but in the last few months of this past disastrous winter I' have friends in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire who've all experienced power outages lasting anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days. After 6 months without power after Marilyn, everything seems pretty minor in comparison and I have to remind myself of that when I start feeling irritated!

Have to agree but after Hugo and Marilyn, my patience for outages has been severely compromised.

That's just getting older and crankier - hey at least you have a generator!!!

The WAPA website overhead tagline said today that parts of 7A would be out 11:30-1:30 today and parts of 5A would be out 1:30 to 3:30. I think I'm on 7A but nothing happened and, having said that, I am now rushing out onto the deck to hammer the wooden balustrades! Likely will go out just as I settle down to watch TV later on ...

No interruptions here today either but just refueled the genny as
I was down to the dregs and with WAPA, one can never tell when the next outage will occur.

I don't really mind the daytime outages as there's always a project at hand to get done, if regular work isn't piled up and I just want to enjoy the quiet, sans generator. Nighttime, I prefer light. I am very grateful for my generator, whatever the case.

Niece living in Cayman Islands called just as the power went out here last night. She said their last outage was 3 years ago. Must be nice! They do pay around 55¢ per KWH, tho.

DC was out yesterday for several hours! I should have learned by now but wish that WAPA wouldn't give a schedule for revolving outages! Naturally my presumption yesterday that, despite the "schedule" the power would likely go out as I was ready to settle down was right on the mark! 😀

It would be nice if they did stick to the schedule that they provide to be published but guess we can feel lucky that the interruption was of short duration. Generator is filled and ready, just in case!
