Is there such a person as The Sugar Cane Man on St Croix? Someone on another forum keeps telling everyone to be sure to see the Sugar Cane Man while vacationing on St Croix, that he's a 'not miss'. I've never heard of him--- is this something that IS a 'not miss'?! Anyone heard of this person? (I know I'm on the relocation forum, but I knew if anyone knew the answer to this it would be this group!)

Think it might be the guy on the Queen Mary Hwy near the little yellow building going west past the Court. He sells sugar cane cuts for chewing and sucking..

The farm on centerline is owned by the Smithen family, and they sell whatever is in season. You can get a crushed cane juice drink there and watch them make it from cane for you. They are WELL worth a stop if they're there.

I recognize the man and truck. Very nice guy whom I have seen at the jump ups in Christiansted. Not sure where he is otherwise. Instead of plain sugarcane, try his fresh coconut water and rum drink (served in a coconut, of course!) Warning: will hit you like a freight train.

He has a garbage pick up business otherwise. Runs it with his sons. As he says, he's the happiest man alive.

I also had a private message saying he has a place on Centerline road and that he does exist--- and also that he is very happy, so it could be Vincent. I'll be on the lookout on our next trip down. I've had sugarcane before, but I'd like to try some coconut juice and rum-- even if it does hit you like a freight train!:D Thanks for all the responses.

WHAT?!:-o If you meant me, then this is certainly not a conspiracy thread on where to buy some rock! We were discussing this over on TA and when no one seemed to know if the Sugar Cane man was real I thought you nice people who lived here would probably know. If the last posters were just kidding around and I'm being obtuse then please forgive me--- I've had a long month lately where I had to end up putting my dad in a nursing home... I got on the St Croix websites to blank out reality and I've probably put my foot in it since I'm tired and not thinking straight... From what I've learned in the past two days, I think the Sugar Cane man is real and if we get to go back to the island anytime soon I'm for sure looking him up and at least getting coconut juice and rum-- maybe two! Freight train or not.

The only poster that thought anything negative is a very sick and nasty individual and is absolutely NOT representative of the USVI - in gfact I think he lives on the mainland. Ignore him and go with the positive vibes - the moderator removed his posts!!!
Keep asking questions and the normal people on the board will endeavor to answer them> 🙂
