Bengoa has been the best tire repair facility for us (past Sunny Isle on Hess road), as well as buying new tires. Their service is excellent.

Another vote for Emerald Tire. We were always pleased with tires and service.

I used Richard at Emerald Tire for my last two sets of tires and agree that his prices are good, but unfortunately the last purchase I wasn't happy with service and follow-up after the sale. I told them before they started the installation that I wanted the tires at 35psi. I checked the tire pressure after the installation and all 4 tires were all over the place. Had to ask 3 times to get them to fix the air pressure issue. While installing Richard tells me that his balancing machine is broken, so I'll have to come back. I said no problem. I came back a week later, still broken. Went off island for 3 weeks, then came back again; he was "too busy" and wanted me to come back again. No one in the bays; three guys sitting around. He then gave me a hard time for waiting so long to come back. I'm not going to argue with him; just going to spend my $ elsewhere. There was no reasoning with him. I ended up paying someone else to balance them only to find out that Richard's crew didn't tighten the lug nuts and I had to replace 2 of them. Just goes to show you, price isn't everything.

Tire Express/Car Hunters at the old Toyota dealership location on Northside Road LaGrande Princess - just west of Foodtown - almost across the road from Gas City. (tu)(tu)(tu)

I've been using Car Hunters/Tire Express too. The Hankook tires from Car Hunters last much longer than the crap that HH sells.

But I still buy batteries at HH.

Thanks everyone. Sad story about emerald tire. Things do change so maybe they got "tired" of good customer service.

Edit to correct spelling

I wouldnt use Bengoa for anything.

They are backing that thief and convicted fraudster woman Darryl who used to own Caribbean Promo Mart.

The new front she is using is located within Bengoa's and she drives around in a white pick-up with Bengoa graphics on the doors.

Its called Promo World.

Buyers Beware...she's back from jail and up to the same old tactics.

I typically buy tires at H&H primarily because of the selection. I will normally call around first and some of the the other places mentioned will not have the size I need in stock, which are just standard SUV tires. The tires definitely do not last as long as in the states and I doubt I have gotten 20,000 miles on any tire since I moved here in 2005 - I suspect the curvy roads are the main culprit as far as tread wear goes. The tires on my vehicles I shipped down back then were fairly new and good quality Michelins and they lasted less than 15,000 miles, so I don't think buying good quality tires are worth the extra price. I would recommend that you buy an air compressor also. We have had around16 flat tires since moving here - all of them have been patched or plugged successfully. A few I could tell as soon as I hit the nail or screw so I drove straight to a tire store and had it plugged before the tire went flat. Most I did not notice until the next morning when the tire was flat in the driveway. I have always been able to pump them up, size up the leak, and then make a dash to Emerald Tires (10 minutes away) to have it plugged for $8 to $10. So fortunately I have never had to change a tire yet but without an air compressor that would have been a lot of time and lug nuts.

H&H is fine, although I find if you buy two today don't expect them to have the match to them if you want two more in a few months.

Went to tire express. It was great. Quick, not too expensive. Tx for all the recommendations.

You can certainly buy used tires but I wouldn't. A place in Frederiksted actually RENTS tires. LOL At least that's what the sign reads.

I always thought - WTH - and laughed when I saw that sign. Then someone told me that people rent tires to pass the inspection at BMV. Wow....only in the islands!
