Greetings!
We are looking for a car for our move to St Croix.
Any thoughts on the Prius or a hybrid vehicle?

I test drove one a few years ago. It didn't handle the speedbumps and potholes very well. We ended up with a Toyota Highlander Hybrid instead.

Maybe they do better on STX -- on STT and STJ, we don't drive long enough trips for the batteries to charge properly.

Prius???
Think "Mad Max" movie type vehicle. Something mean, something formidable. It's got to be able to forge rivers, take out old growth mahogany trees, navigate through raging forest fires, climb steep hills, and for goodness sake don't forget the winch and overhead lighting!

*Shotgun rack optional in STX

Tank with a turret gun.
Seriously, vehicles with good ground clearance for the numerous potholes you'll encounter, have good power and that are easily maintained (parts accessible) are best in the VI.

Suspension travel and shock absorption will serve you best here.

Get something built for Baja racing (that's what I did) & you'll be happier; it's nice to not have to follow everyone else as they cross into opposing traffic to dodge a crack in the pavement or pothole.

There's a Toyota dealership in STT.
Does STX have one?
Did HH that just burned to the ground, repair cars or just sell tires and batteries, etc.?

Which island? If you are on STT you will not see much benefit of electric mode. It will run mostly on the engine wasting gas because your foot will be on the floor trying to climb hills. The engine, trans and brakes will suffer because it was not designed for that kind of driving.
Besides the fact that the only place you can get it serviced is Caribbean Auto Mart at their Toyota dealer. By the time they get done screwing it up/ripping you off you'll need a new car.

Thank your all the awesome replies!
We have a Buick Encore now and are thinking we may just keep it to bring with us.
Is there a Buick dealer on St Croix? Our online search only showed one on St Thomas.

Isn't Buick another way to say GM?
