Unauthorized Parking on Private Property

I have some inconsiderate moron who has decided that the parking space in front of my business is now their own personal space to leave their vehicle each day.

I have left two very respectful notes under their windshield asking them to stop parking there.

Both have been discarded and thrown on the ground.

I stepped out of the office yesterday to confront the women and she didn't even stop as she was leaving despite me waving her down.

My first thought is to slash all her tires today, but, that's a bit too emotional and may be costly in the long run.

What recourse do I have under VI law to remove her vehicle?

In my mind its game on. After she ignored me yesterday, I'm looking to take it to the next level.

Ideas or thoughts?

Buy some full sheet Avery or similar labels, where there is only one 8.5 x 11 label per sheet.

Print DO NOT PARK HERE on that label in large letters. Next time she parks in front of your business, stick that label on the driver's side windshield - right in her line of sight.  After time in the hot sun, it will be a beast to remove and this will give you time to have a conversation with her while she scrapes it off in order to drive off.

You can put more than one label on her car if you're feeling creative. In places where I've worked, we add more labels each day until the car leaves permanently. But in these instances, the offended space owner had personally leased that particular space in a parking lot/garage.

Hope she isn't armed. Hope she's not vindictive or related to someone who is.

Who owns the land that she is parking on? Is it private property?

Had a similar situation in Queens many years ago. I used an automotive jack to lift one end of the car at a time. It took awhile, but I was able to slide it sideways into an alley between buildings (which it was blocking access to). There was about a 12” space on both ends of the car when I was finished. It was a ratty 74 Chevy Impala, a particularly long and heavy vehicle. I wasn’t around when the owner returned. I’d still pay good money to see his reaction though.

😉

Can you just beat her to the space earlier than she arrives, park a car there and force her to find a different space to park every day until she finds another place she likes?

@cruzaniron

Its in Gallows Bay...the entire area including the roads are private property.

She's just being a dick about it.

There are plenty of places she can park.

@Gator's_Mom

We do have permanent adhesive decals with "special" messages for this purpose.

I've decided that will be the next step.

I was really polite with the first two notes I left under her windshield wiper.

Does she work in the area?  If so, follow her to her place of employment and speak to the owner/manager possibly?

People down here are the most disrespectful parkers I have ever seen. No qualms about parking in a handicap spot, blocking people in to run into the store, parking at gas pumps instead of off to the side when the run in to buy something, parking in no parking spaces because they are too lazy to walk a few feet.  And the cops, they do nothing about it. We had a guy block us in at government lot during on of the street concerts. Parked right behind us sideways (we were in a space) blocking 2 cars. Luckily his car was unlocked so we rolled it in to the middle of the lot and left it there.

Put a sign up about private/customer parking only parking then call a good towing company the next time she parks there.

Bet she won't park there again after she has to pay to get her car back.

Are you within your legal rights to do anything about the situation?Many businesses have signs denoting 30 minute parking, customer parking, loading zone only parking, reserved parking, etc., and advising people will be towed.

However, you don't want to have the situation end up costing you money as well as the aggravation.

How about you parking in front of your business until after she has to be at work?

Good luck!
