I have been off the forum for a while as we have been getting settled in STX. I had followed topics earlier in the Wal Mart shipping pass- some said the gov't had stopped it, but others said it was still a good option. Does anyone know the current status?

Walmart has discontinued the shipping pass nationwide.

Will still ship to VI though.

Are they still charging their exorbitant pricing for shipping there. It was free last year then they went to the shipping pass program and the rates were crazy.

I haven't ordered from them since they dropped the free shipping option.

I have ordered from them a little bit, but not as much since the shipping charges came back. I've found that it really just depends on what you are ordering. I ordered a headband that weighed nothing and they charged more than the thing cost to ship it. (I really needed it for a costume or else I wouldn't have gotten it!) And other things that were bigger and heavier and the shipping wasn't too bad. Most of the time, even with the shipping, still cheaper than what I can get here. But it makes shopping a PIA since you don't really know what you are going to be charged until you get to the checkout process.

Try Amazon's new program. Subscribe and Save. Just signed up. They have all kinds of things you can order with FREE shipping here plus a discount if you subscribe to more than 5 items per month. You can cancel items on your monthly list or only get them every 2 - 6 months.

Be careful about what you order with Subscribe and Save - my experience was that they don't pack these orders as well as regular orders. I had to get a full refund both times I tried it because the items arrived badly damaged. Maybe it has gotten better in the last year?
