Headline: US Coast Guard to Close St. Croix Sea Ports to All Unauthorized Inbound Commercial Traffic at 8 PM Tonight
The US Coast Guard will shift to Port Condition YANKEE at 8 p.m. tonight for the island of St. Croix only. During Port Condition YANKEE the port is closed to all inbound commercial traffic unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port.
Port Condition YANKEE will remain in place for St. Croix until further notice from the US Coast Guard.

Headline: St. Thomas- St. John Sea Ports Remain at Port Condition X-RAY; Only Vessels with Approval Can Remain in Port
St. Thomas - St. John sea ports remain at Port Condition X-Ray as set by the US Coast Guard Captain of the Port. During Port Condition X-RAY all regulated facilities are required to submit a Facility Readiness Survey to the Captain of the Port. Vessels without approved applications to remain in port must depart.
Port Condition X-RAY will remain in place until further notice from the US Coast Guard Captain of the Port.

What a stupid move by the VIPA. Don't they pay any attention to the weather reports?

VIPA doesn't issue port closings, USCG does.
If you noticed, many of the cruise ships changed their itineraries prior to port closings. A couple rescheduled for Friday but that will probably change again due to TS Erika' s approach.
