Well we’re stuck here in this Crucian town
And they're closing the big factory down
Out at HOVENSA they’re killing time
Filling out forms
Standing in line

Well our fathers served this country’s world wars
And way back we were slaves on these shores
For generations we staked our claim
Fought our way free
Didn’t want fame

But now we're stuck here in this Crucian town
And the complacency was handed down
Now it's getting very hard to stay

Well we’re waiting in this Crucian town
For the paradise that we never found
For the promises our leaders made
If we worked hard
If we behaved

Now our certifications hang on the wall
But they never really helped us at all
No they never taught us what was real
That HOVENSA could leave
Perjure and steal

And we're waiting in this Crucian town
But they’ve contaminated all of the ground
And their corporate people've crawled away

Every child had a pretty good shot
To get at least as far as their old man got
But something happened on the way to that place
They threw a management plan in our face

Well I’m living in this Crucian town
And it’s hard to keep a good man down
But I won't be getting up today

And it’s getting very hard to stay
‘Cuz we're stuck here in this Crucian town

Except we don't have leaders (and I'm beginning to think very few US communities do) - we have politicians, and I doubt that Webster's considers them synonymous.

I think that most people need to face the fact that the USVI will be downsizing, not just government, but everything. They failed to plan, and now it looks like we're in a position to plan to fail. Hopefully within the next 5 years, the USVI will be "right-sized" and those who remain can live comfortably and securely.

Don't forget to mention WAPA

Oh, I have a whole WAPA song to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody.

WAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Just billed a man.
Made up a number in its head,
You know his meter's never read.

WAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I think you've finally won;
I'm buried by the bills you want paid.

WAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Oooh, oooh, oooh.
Didn't mean to make me cry,
But if power's not back on this time tomorrow
You'll carry on, carry on, just like nothing really matters ....

And so on.

Again, Bravo, Iris! We don't always agree, but I do enjoy your sense of humor.
