OfficeMax just started something with go daddy. I know nothing about it thou, it's new.

You may want to get a paypal prepaid visa card anyway since you want to go e-commerce on your site, and to fund monthly payments for your site but you'll need a mainland address.

I use WestHost. Their tech help basically walked me through anything I didn't understand (which was almost everything). They are pretty inexpensive and very reliable. But I don't have an ecommerce site. I would check out the site then give them a call with any questions. www.westhost.com

i really cannot think of a single web hosting company that gets 100% approval across the board from people who are capable of building and hosting their own sites.

however, most people can neither build nor host their own sites. in that case you must take the bitter with the sweet and go with one of the big national web hosting outfits. there are local concerns who will contract with them on your behalf, and provide the creative... but the hosting, still for the most part, is done with one of those companies. those who do have local hosting, are generally businesses paying for an enterprise service level from a virgin islands vendor.

once the broadband initiative is complete, i do feel that it will be technically feasible to have a web hosting company of large reach, right here in the united states virgin islands. of course, our power situation must be dealt with, as a network operations center channels a lot of energy and would be quite costly as things currently stand! this means it would be hard to compete with established companies.

any web hosting company that you do business with, is responsible for maintaining servers, redundancy, backups, database maintenance, patches, and software libraries. all told, if you tried to do all of that yourself, or you tried to pay someone to perform all of these duties, it would be prohibitive.

like i said, take the bitter with the sweet. pay for it and deal with not having everything exactly as you want it... or do it all (or pay for it all) yourself.

I agree. They would need a backup generator to supply energy during WAPA outages.
