Six firetrucks a dozen cops and three ambulances with full sirens and lights going honking like crazy heading towards Frederiksted I'm stuck behind them I don't think they're actually going to something - what's going on anybody know? I really hope nothing happens out east right now because you're screwed since they're all out here.

You make it sound like STX is the homicide leader. In fact, the Daily News disagrees.

"Saturday morning's murder was the territory's 31st homicide, including 2 vehicular homicides, of 2015. There have been 14 on St. Croix; 16 on St. Thomas and two on St. John."
http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com/news/shooting-victim-found-dead-in-road-near-st-joseph-s-catholic-high-school-1.1953293

STT is every bit as dangerous as STX.

Several of you need to stop being so negative about STX; I'm sure you can afford a plane ticket back to the states.

I figured it was something like that. They weren't in a hurry at all.

I don't think Alana was being negative at all. Her and I are friends - we talk and she knows how absolutely horrible it's been for me here so far. It's tested my limits
to the absolute max. Hell it still is.

Then perhaps it's time for you to leave; just because you are unhappy does not mean those of us that are not enjoy your constant complaining.

I am sorry you think STX is hell.

Don't live near the rain forest if you don't want to have bugs.

Don't look for tourist amenities on an island that's not touristy.

Don't judge the entire island of St. Croix based upon your personal choices and needs.

Just sayin' ......

From what I can tell, you have a car to drive, a sturdy roof over your head (albeit damp with bugs right now), and enough healthy food to eat, even if it isn't the ingredients you desire. You and your hubby apparently have the skills, talent and training to earn enough money to cover the rent and electric bill each month.

There are so many people on St Croix who have far less than what you have. And they don't all have the capacity to escape their situations, or access to decent systems to help them. They can truly get away with saying they are living in Hell. There may be other bad things going on in your life. But based on what you've shared on this forum, it looks like the best you can claim is first world problems.

Living on St Croix has been annoying and terribly frustrating at times. But Paradise has its price.

I feel the same about STT as AandA2VI feels about STX.

I could never live happily in a place like St. Thomas.

Very minimal but I was moved around a lot as a child so adaptation as an adult has always been relatively easy. It was always natural for me to keep my mouth shut and my ears and eyes wide open when embracing new territory. Petty annoyances are relegated to exactly that in favor of the positives and a sense of humor goes a long way. Obviously if after a while the petty annoyances override the positives then change is in order.

well, they should give her a break-she has not been here on stx that long.

seems you might be one of the few people i have met that didnt need much of an adjustment period. that really is nice that you didnt need as much of one as others.

Living anywhere is a choice, you can leave the place you're in if you don't like it.

She seems to be miserable and is trying to either make us feel sorry for her or convince everyone they should also be miserable here.

Choose to be happy and leave.

I am sorry you think STX is hell.

And I am sorry you CANT READ 😀 I said HELL its still is... as in every day - as in it continues to test me. Not that its hell here. I don't think that at all. Im sure there are way worse places to live lol. Do I think STX is for me? Absolutely not. I will just bide my time here and go back as soon as we can. Clearly I wont leave my fiancé and he has to be here on contract. He actually likes working in this store VERY much - way better than STT so its a struggle between us.

No one is holding a gun to your head and making you read my posts - or be on the boards for that matter. Its HILARIOUS to me that over the years I watch people totally b*ch about one thing or the other and then the next day tell people to stop b*ching. Seriously. Or the fact that when a newbie talks about moving here everyone is SO quick to say its not paradise (bringing up all its pitfalls) but then the second you complain they say hey at least its paradise. I mean talk out of both sides of your mouths, much? Seriously ridiculous.

I am no a newb - I get island life - I'm not high maintenance and I am VERY adaptable. If I wasn't I would have moved back to STT last month. I've had a slew of things - albeit all very small but when they pile up well - it takes it toll. Everything from getting ripped off to being called white bitch to feeling really unsafe. All of which I never experienced in STT. Like I said I am giving it 4 more months to decide if I can live here long term or not. I figure 6 months is fair. At this moment - not a chance but I am NOT talking crap about those who love it here. Thats cool, enjoy but do not fault me because I do not.

Everyone is different in what they like and don't like. A lesson learned for sure but I think a lot of you here on the boards could practice a little bit of tact. Perhaps pretend you're talking to someones face rather than sitting behind your keyboards.

Hope you feel better now that you have done a little venting.

As far as I am concerned the therapy session is over.

Have a lovely evening.

I'm sorry you're so upset. Have you maybe considered some good island herbal tea or something a little more formidable to calm you down a little?

Best to just ignore the stupid and condescending posts.
Not worth it. You need not justify your feelings to complete strangers that don't get it. Hang in there.

So, in summary, no one knew what caused all of the activity that the OP was asking about in the first post.
