This is not a new subject. Do not support crap. Do not pay for junk. Choice internet lays down on the job almost every 60 minutes to smoke one, usually when you are in the middle of something. If they can't do it (and they can't) do not hire them. That is all. I can't watch a documentary or anything, and my bill is due again! AAAARGH. Just say no to crap! BTW, I am centrally located so EXCUSES about the location are not valid. I hope every one switches and you are finished, CHOICE. Too many good business are gone and you still are here? Go away!
BTW-If you work for Choice, I would be happy to document my experiences for the record if you are not afraid of the results!.

You are right. Choice is the worng company to use if your want trouble free internet service.
I had used this company from the time it was Ackley Communications in the 90's and never had a problem until the last set of management came in and decided to give away cars and sell cell phones - then everything went to hell in a hand basket for the internet service portion of the business from the constant billing issues, to disconnection issues, the lack of tech support, the lack of service and on and on. It was a nightmare. God help you if you had a problem on a weekend!
BroadbandVI has proven much more reliable than Choice had become over the last couple of years. Glad I switched..you will be too!

We have never had trouble with Broadband VI - it seems to always be on, even when WAPA and cable and phones are out! Plus my husband just found out they have free Wifi around the island for their customers, we just need to call and get our password!

INNOVATIVE IS NO BETTER!! Our phone line/internet has been down since Tropical Storm Isaac...nothing to do with the Tropical Storm though. They said the line is corroded ...still no internet. They said they currently have no one scheduled to fix this???? So we went and canceled our service now they want to charge us $300 for canceling contract. REALLY??? they cant provide the service and expect us to stay with them?? STT businesses will run the island into the ground they are not going to be happy until all tourist stop coming and until all stateside ppl move off island ...After a 2 day visit to STX and the respect people gave us i wish all tourist would go to STX they deserve the business!

It sounds as though you had a lovely time on STX for those two days and what a relief it must have been to get away from the hubbub, poor service and rude people on STT. Since STT is obviously on a major downslide and STX is so much better, when are you planning on moving to the big island?

I had a corporate job on STT for 10 years before opening my own business and no, I've never lived on STX but visited frequently for both business and pleasure for many years. Lovely island and I have/have had many friends there over the years.

Oh, and just a quick edit (not that it really makes a lot of difference) but I owned and operated a restaurant and did so for 16 years.

How very clever! Got an email today from Choice promoting their cellphones with the heading, "Home Phones Are No Longer Innovative"! Goes on to say that basically nobody needs a landline any more and they have the best cellphone coverage ...

They tell you you have a choice, exercise that right and do not choose this company unless you are satisfied with dial up modem speeds and do not intend to fill out online forms and the like, that means you only need to be connected now and again, not when you want to, but when choice decides they want to connect you, when is a mystery, kind of like a game they play. The CHOICE internet does not stay on long enough for you to fill out a form and click submit, many of the times you try it continuously goes on and off and you have to redo the form.

When you call support you deal with some person in Texas that does not even know where the Virgin Islands is let alone trouble shoot the area in which you are not receiving a signal.

This is one area where government should be involved regulating. This is a utility and for many of us a essential service, companies like this that cannot provide the service which they advertise and contract for, should not be allowed to operate and profit by not delivering such services.

SHAME ON YOU CHOICE INTERNET!

Broadband vi is the way to go. Great customer service, very responsive to problems and great speeds. Innovative problems never end. Don't know much about choice.

I have Choice. Until this month its been awesome. I don't think its the service thou I think its the modem going bad. Will be taking it in next week and if they won't replace it then I will be switching to BBVI I guess. Not really happy with their customer service I received when first on the island but I won't step foot into an innovate building - even if they paid me.

Doesn't BBVI have a 2yr contract?

Broadband VI has no contracts.
If you are unhappy with our service, you can leave.
Therefore, we work hard to keep you happy.

I no longer have Choice but when I was bothered with the slow foolish modem I took it in. They rebooted it and it worked fine. There is a hole somehere on the modem that you can insert a paper clip and reboot it. They told me I can do it myself. If that doesn't work, yes, try BB.

We've had Choice for a year with no problems. Is it as fast as internet on the mainland? Heavens no. We would be with Innovative except they couldn't seem to show up for installation. Messed with them for 2 weeks and as they hadn't got the job done went to Choice. Walked in got a modem, hooked it up at home, found the the tower and it works great. I guess we're just lucky.

Before you bash a service, Check your equipement!

As an installer I hear ISP bashing everyday.

Last week we installed service at two homes.
Both complained about their ISP. losing timing out.
One was Choice, One was Hughesnet.

Both homes had routers which were bad.

The routers were power cycling every 2 to 4 minutes.
Had been for several weeks..
Shutting down and rebooting.
Throwing them off the net.
Which is why they switched service, thinking it was their ISP.,,

When in fact it was their own equipement!

Yeah...blame it on the router. CHOICE sucks. Always has, always will.

Choice works fine in Coral Bay. 5 down and 3 up , 24/7.

As does BBVI.

My experience with Choice was definitely horrendous and it wasn't because of my router. It was because of their extremely bad service with every aspect from billing, to reliable internet service (lack thereof), reporting problems, tech support and so on. I tried for a yr. to resolve all the constant issues and finally switched to save my sanity. Choice is a Bad Choice for Internet maybe they are better at selling cell phones and raffling off ugly cars.
