Re: the Daily News salary list- Can anyone explain why they have three $92,000 commissioners,a $96,000 chairman, a $65,000 executive director as well as one inspector and a senior inspector? I came up with $500,000+ per year in payroll for one casino. Does this make sense?

You're definition of Casino is too vague. Not just actual casinos.

VLT's; Caribbean Lottery; all those scratch off games; statutory compliance for any corporate promotion requests. I'm sure I'm missing a few others.

Don't forget they also oversee the Racino at the Racetrack, and the Church Bingos, and the Slot machine at Benticks

I thought the VLTs were under some other authority.

Another waste of taxpayer money.
I could see if they hired more inspectors but why do they need 3 commissioners plus the chairman and an exectutive director.

Well It was needed, if two commishes vote on let's say adding another slot machine at bentiks liquor store, or at a mida mida bar, the third one is there to offer the tie breaking vote at 90k a year. And the reason they get paid that much is to resist the temptaion of anyone bribing them, or swaying votes in the direction of anyone wanting to add Let' say another slot machine in their Liquor store, or a extra bingo night in the church hall.

"Slot machines" are VLTs, per badbee under Lottery Commission, not casino. I wonder if they even make back their salaries from the casino.

You misunderstand the purpose of USVI government jobs. They are part of a make-work program for connected people. The USVI has almost twice the number of government workers as the state of Wyoming. Wyoming has 5 times our population. We have some of the highest paid senators in the US. Wyoming has a part-time legislature.

Who does our government serve? Not us.

Rotorhead is right as usual.

Jobs at instrumentalities like the Casino Control Commission are for those loyal to the adminstration.

Its a boondoogle.

In Wyoming we don't have to pay the cousin of the woman who gives out business licenses in order to get a business license. When applying for a business license, they told me it would take 6 months to get....but in order to get it quicker, I should contact this woman who will expedite my getting my license....making the time a couple of weeks instead...And the cost of hiring the woman was $500 plus the $350 for the license. Here we walk in...and get the license in about 5 minutes give or take 2 minutes....and guess what....we only have to pay the actual license fee.....AND the women in the license office are polite and happy to help...not.....put out for interrupting there conversation on the phone to there sister over who is going to pick up dinner. If only those white business people would just hand out their money and leave. Also...in Wyoming any job is available to any person....white,...black....asian...Indian...man ....woman....it does not matter as long as they are qualified to get that job. I tried to get a job on the island driving a taxi.....WHOA....you would have though I was spitting in everyone's face.....The amount of hassle this caused was incredible.....and in the end...unthinkable....The prejudice against white males is absolutely overwhelming....after all ...we are the cause of All the problems on the islands. Just ask any Islander descendant.

One odes not get a job as a taxi diver. You have to obtain a taxi medallion and have a taxi drivers license. Where can you get a job as a taxi driver?

Yep........all that unaccounted for CASH money that doesn't go into our tax system or pay for our roads but gets used to build humongous homes for taxi drivers who also have a monopoly and all the prime parking they ask for on all 3 islands for a pittence.

Our Senators continue to look out for their number one priority which is themselves and those that would fill their pockets.
