One issue I can't forgive Trump is his Trump University. TU clearly exploited the hopes and dreams of advancement of the working class and middle class. The "students" lost $1000's of dollars to a scam. Now the same population of weak, naive and undereducated voted him in for the promise of bringing low skills, manufacturing jobs back to US. Pipe dream.

My hope for Tramp is that he will make the government smaller, more efficient, cut beurocracy, make the country small business friendly, cut the wealfare rolls and overhauls the healthcare.
If he does that he will be a huge success.

I paid for college and didn't make $100,000 a year when I graduated either.

Can I sue?

From whom do you wish to withhold benefits? Children, disabled people, poor elderly?

Just wondering if you know more than most of us since you speak so definitively about cutting "welfare" rolls as a positive strategy for improving the US.

http://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2015/cb15-97

From my experience, to be more efficient, governments cut expenses but leave employees in place without enough money to accomplish anything. Bathrooms get funky too.

BTW manufacturing jobs can return if guys will accept low wages to compete with the far East and India. Alternatively we can all just pony up and pay more for everything so a 20th century refugee can turn a bolt.

And I can agree with him on fixing the failing infrastructure, too. Think of the jobs that will produce.

My favorite news item was that Trump's lawyers asked for the Trump U case to be moved until after the election because he'll be too busy transitioning. WTH? He won't be busier after inauguration? He must have cut down on his "First 90 Days" list.

Getting disability benefits does not equal disability.
Plenty of work capable people are on welfare.
I am not referring to 65+ crowd. They/we have what assured SS and Medicare and hopefully savings.

Nobody in US land will work for 2-5$ per hour to compete w Asian worker. Even illegals on STT command 10-15$ cash per hour.

These with US passports don't look for daywork by HD. They get better bennies from drug trade +- welfare.

From whom do you wish to withhold benefits? Children, disabled people, poor elderly?

I love liberal logic. Love Trumps Hate. Until you lose. I wasn't a big fan of Trump, but Hillary and her supporters definitely pushed me that way. Trump is a bigot, a racist, so is Hillary. Have you seen her past statements she has made. Nah, that never happened in a liberal's mind. All these kids protesting, protesting what? That they didn't get their participation trophy? Trump may not be perfect, but he's perfect for the US right now. Hopefully we can stop being an overly sensitive society and realize people have opinions and if you disagree, well you disagree and move on. Not protest, start violence, damage innocent people's property and run to your safe space. The liberal's created this, now live with it. We did for 8 years of watching our country become more divided, just ask the african americans, they will even admit to that. As Queen once sang:

We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the world

The United States was founded because of civil disobedience. It is core to who we are.

They are protesting the election of a self declared billionaire elitist.

They are for Bernie Sander's socialist reforms.

Much rather see young adults protesting in the street than hiding behind anonymous trolling and/or staring at cell phones.

Clinton is a democrat and not a particularly good liberal.

Clinton is old news.

No Unity - just like the past 8 years. Hope they can keep the pressure on. Maybe the Millennial generation is finally awake.

It's funny, they made fun of Trump as he stated he might not accept the results of the election, Now who isn't accepting it?

@gatorsmom
Of course the peeps who voted trump are the exact reason the US is not what it was. While economy evolved and shifted the masses failed to transform and evolve with the needs to service new economy and rather focused on consumption of OxyContin and crystal meth. Of course they are angry but they missed the the boat.

The manufacturing as we know it will never come back to US. If it does it will be highly automated and serviced by a few highly qualified technicians.

Trump used exactly the same powers to get elected as did Adolf.
He arnesed the anger of the mob unhappy with the inflation and stagnated economy. Promised them to make the country great and strong again and thriving for 1000 years. I am not saying Trump will start WW3 but he will definitely stuff pockets of megarich.

Our only logical choice for making it great again was Sanders. His ideas were too radical for US.

I don't think that socialism will make America great. It will make America into Venezuela.

Sure they will, just as soon as their cost of living is the same as it was in the 70s, or perhaps they'll get section 8 housing and food stamps instead.

Most higher paying manufacturing jobs have been lost to automation and higher efficiencies where fewer people can make more stuff in less time. Those grunt work jobs aren't coming back. There are jobs to be had, for those with the right skills.

It will be interesting to see if Trump can turn off the H-1B visas claiming that sufficient workers already exist as US citizens.

Personally, I like this enough to repost.

The back and forth here has been interesting.

Trump won. I think he's a vindictive and vile human being, without a clue how to run the country, or the temperament it takes to represent us. But out of respect for the office and the process that got him there, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and hold him to his acceptance speech, in which he said he would represent all of us. I hope cooler heads prevail on some of his more outlandish and economically hurtful promises, and that he learns to listen and take into account experts' advice in areas where he is ignorant (which he proved are legion).

While I understand the sentiments that got him there, some of which make perfect sense, I personally believe his supporters are going to be sorely disappointed in the long run, if not the short, when his magic wand doesn't work the way it's supposed to. But I may be surprised. All I know is it's now all on the Republicans if they sink or swim. (And if they sink, I'll be interested in who their scapegoat will be). We've repaired presidential damage before and we can do it again.

Alana,
Absolutely not taking up where OT left off. It's you who cannot stop from commenting on things you disagree with. ie Once was enough. If you disagree that's fine, but you continue to do the things that you held OT in such contempt for and it's funny to me that you can't see that. But I will continue to post and I am sure will make some comments that people disagree with, but will accept their disagreement. That's what makes me, me. I will always respect those who don't agree with me. I will always listen to both sides, state my case and move on. You can't do that and obviously never will.

As John Lennon once sang:

Let me tell you now
Ev'rybody's talking 'bout
Revolution, evolution, masturbation, flagellation, regulation, integrations
Meditations, United Nations, congratulations

All we are saying is give peace a chance
All we are saying is give peace a chance

We can absolutely disagree but one doesn't have to be rude or personal in the process. Twice is quite enough. No hypocrisy here.

Thanks. I try to be pragmatic. I now think the disappointment and disillusionment will come sooner, rather than later. So we may only have 4 years of mess-making to clean up. The anti-establishment candidate is already proving he's anything but. It didn't take long.

Washington Post - . . . Guess What? You Got Conned
