Does anyone know if Chucky is eligible to run on the ballot in 2016?

I cannot remember if she was banned from running on the ballot forever, or just in the 2014 election.

if she was banned from 2014, why can she run 2016?

Exactly, speee1dy - I would think if she was banned from running on the ballot in 2014 it would apply to future years. That the ban would be forever.

I don't recall whether this is the case or not.

I know she can run as a write in, but can she run on the ballot?

Previously, during the controversial 2014 General Elections, de Jongh pardoned Sen. Alicia “Chucky” Hansen, after the Supreme Court ruled that she was ineligible to be on the Nov. 4 ballot because of crimes she committed involving moral turpitude.

This pardon did not come in time for her to be listed on the ballot in 2014, so she ran as a write in candidate. IF she had received enough votes, she would have been allowed to be sworn in.

DeJongh pardoned Chucky in September, but then in October the Supreme Court of the VI issued the final ruling that her name be removed from the ballot. So the pardon came before the final ruling.

viconsortium fawkes supreme court ruling

From everything I have read, it appears that the ruling pertained only to the 2014 election, but I do wonder if that is true or not. ie. would she be eligible to run on the ballot in future elections?

Can't wait until next election to see what/who comes crawling out of the woodwork. Hope STX has learned a lesson about Chuckle and we've seen the last of her.

Sadly the voters will vote her in because of her party she throws. It is a shame we elect our officials by parties and the friends and family plan. That is part of the reason why we are in the state we are in.
