Rotor is right, we need to address the root cause here: violent behavior.

We need to kick everyone OUT of prison that is not a violent offender (though I could see exceptions for people who are destructive to other peoples property) and create a much harsher punishment scheme for violent offenders; second offense gets you a V tattooed on your forehead perhaps... third offense "chain gang" labor for 10 years (NO parole).

Of course it would help immensely if our prisons were not run for profit as they currently are & we were more focused on prevention etc..

Might be my bad on that one.. what I listed were ingredients for home-made explosives combined in the right way those items make a very devistating weapon agains human targets; I guess I assumed knowledge that I shouldn't have on that one 😉

those are the kinds of things we find planted in Mosque's in Iraq when I was there (a long with the IED's made from 155mm shells (that, BTW we supplied to the Iraqies in the Iraq -> Iran war.. kind of ironic that most IED's that kill us now are from weapons we GAVE to the iraqies back when we supported / trained /equiped them to fight iran)).

I still think those 26 families would give anything to have their loved ones scarred but alive. The more deadly the instrument, the greater the causalities. And while few people will make a bomb or use an IED, many will use a gun.

I took zoloft at one point. i elbowed my best friend by accident, in the eye. He cold cocked me, and I picked him up and threw him a good six feet into a wall. It took his brother, my brother and a friend to pull me off of him. The friend used a sleeper hold on me.

alcohol did that to a female friend of mine. she went crazy and it took 6 men to hold her down. she was taken to the hospital.

Like so many other things in life, we just do the best we can with available resources. I think it is reasonable to require a person to undergo a background check before being allowed to pruchase a firearm - no exceptions. I don't think a database of gun owners is needed. If I ruled the world (and aren't you glad I don't), I would require some type of gun-safety training before buying. I would also require training before marriage and having kids.

The US Constitution says we have a right to own firearms, it doesn't say we have a right to have children.

I would beg to differ. We have a first amendment right to free speech, which,over the years, has been interpreted to include many forms of expression. I think the right to marry and have children are definitely in that category.

The Roman Catholic Church requires training already for marraige ("Pre Cana Conference") having sex , children and parenthood are part of the training. As far as a background checks limited too written proof certificates for baptism and confirmation.
