Good Afternoon Everyone:

It's been a while since her last visit, but ISS always keeps her promise to return! She will be passing over the awesome, beautiful Virgin Islands on:

Sunday, Feb. 2nd
Time: 7:06pm (Use the cellphone clock for accuracy)
A 4 minute run @ 55 degrees over the horizon (very nice view) - She will appear as a non-blinking, bright light gliding over the night sky (17,500 mph).
Arriving from the SSW and Departing to the ENE (SSW to ENE)

Enjoy and "Give 'em a wave!"

Good afternoon everyone, TONIGHT: Feb. 4th

Although it is shorter notice than usual, I wanted to post the two (2) sighting opportunities which will occur basically minutes apart: One will be PROGRESS 52P ( a Russian Docking Compartment that delivered supplies to the ISS and undocked yesterday) followed by the ISS.

PROGRESS:
Tonight @ 6:59pm
A 4 minute run @ 40 degrees over the horizon
Arriving from the West and Departing to the NNE. (W to NNE)

ISS
Tonight @ 7:10pm
A 3 minute run @ 30 degrees over the horizon
Arriving from the WNW and Departing to the North. (WNW to N).

"Give 'em a wave!"

Happy 15th Birthday, ISS!

NASA: "The Space Station is the largest cooperative project ever carried out in science." ISS comprises the efforts of NASA (USA), ESA (European Space Agency - Arianespace), Roscosmos (Russia Space Agency), the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Thank you all for your dedication in the research necessary to continue to advance our combined efforts for the betterment of all mankind. ISS, you make us proud!

Good afternoon ISS friends,

The sighting of ISS will be no less than AWESOME when she passes over our incredibly gorgeous Virgin Islands at the end of this week. As a reminder, please use the cellphone clock for accurate timing; ISS will appear as a bright, non-blinking light as she silently glides across the night sky.

Friday Feb. 28th
A six (6) minute run.
Time: 7:08 pm - Overhead!
Arriving from the NW and Departing to the SE (NW to SE)

Six crew members are aboard.
"Give 'em a wave!"

Can't anyone get that information by signing up for the ISS email alerts? I get a heads up email before every time one passes over my zip code, 00820. I didn't think that option was mentioned, but, then again, I could be wrong.

Good afternoon everyone,

ISS will be passing over the Virgin Islands later this week. Reminder: She will be seen as a non-blinking, bright light gliding silently across the night sky. In order to give you a head start on locating the direction from which she will be arriving, I've timed her 'Arrival' one (1) Minute earlier than actual.

Thursday, April 3rd.
Time: 7:02pm @ 30 degrees above the horizon.
A 6 minute run. (Nice run time)
Arriving from the South and Departing to the ENE (S to ENE).

"Give 'em a wave!"
Enjoy!

LIVE from ISS:

A HD Camera mounted on ESA's Columbus Module is providing a live view from ISS as it orbits Earth. Although ISS is moving at a speed of 17,500 mph, it appears to hardly move at all.

Black Image = International Space Station (ISS) is on the night side of the Earth.
Gray Image = Switching between cameras, or communications with the ISS is not available.
Enjoy the journey!

Great video, Daniel.

SpaceX has certainly become a leader in the field of Aerospace Technology, especially since retirement of the Space Shuttle Program. It transports supplies to and from ISS (as a competitor of Arianespace / ESA - ATV ) and also will have the capabilities of transporting 7 crew members to and from the International Space Station. Soyuz (Russia Space Agency) and a workhorse in the industry is capable of carrying 3 crew members. Dragon V2 is unique in its ability to soft land on surfaces, rather than rely on ocean splashdowns or, like the Soyuz vehicle, parachute land on the ground.

"....This system also enables Dragon V2 to land propulsively on Earth or another planet with the precision of a helicopter, making possible interplanetary trips that would otherwise be constrained by ocean landings....".
http://www.spacex.com/news/2014/05/30/dragon-v2-spacexs-next-generation-manned-spacecraft

We can look forward to a very exciting space race and inspire children, who are interested in space technology, to concentrate on "STEM" - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math.

I wonder how much computer physics calculations for space originated in games...

Thanks for the reminder. Does it look bigger than a large star in the sky? (NOT including the sun, for those out there with a sense of humor)

Malibutexan,
Yes, ISS appears much larger than a star in the sky and she is brighter due to the sun's reflection.
