I hate political debates. They prove nothing. We are not voting for the man, but for the "things" that a political party will hopefully bring us. For me, the Republican party represents everything that I hate. subjugation of women, more power to the rich, Keep the poor and minorities in their place. Manipulate the ignorant. Anyone who is middle class or below and votes for a Republican is ""VOTING AGAINST THEIR BEST INTEREST".

The Democrats, while only marginally better, offer more to women, minorities, working men and small business people.. That is why I am voting for Barack Obama.

Oh...and.. Joe Biden said it best and "won the debate"...

I like Joe - as a straight shooter, tell it like it is kind of guy. I thought he may have had a hard time against the slick youngster Ryan but he did great and didn't put up with the BS. Anyone that has a revenue-neutral tax cut better darn well have some specifics in mind that they can present, otherwise it's all smoke and mirrors.

Of course true VI residents such as myself don't really have a dog in this fight. We should get back to discussing the pros and cons of our local candidates (and there are plenty of cons - even if they aren't crimes of moral turpitude).

Okay here is my biased review of the debate....

The democrats feel that Biden won and the republicans feel that Ryan won.

That is better for the dems than the first debate that clearly Romney won.

The people that count the most in this debate are the undecided voters. I doesnt seem that Bidens performance did not come across very well for them. I dont think he swayed anyone that was on the edge. His facial expressions and laughing did not make him look vp'ish. From what I have read alot of people read this behavior as him being an angry old man.

Ryan on the other hand was calm, cool , and collected. He took the whole event very seriously and showed a genuine concern for our country. The whole time Biden was laughing and looking like a fool.

One of the key "rules" to interviewing and presenting is don't use hummor. Don't try to make jokes, Don't fake laugh or giggle. Don't be silly. Don't make faces or exagerated expressions. Don't snicker. Don't be scarcastic. Be serious and professional and ALWAYS polite. Demostrate that you are taking the interviewer/audiance seriously. Smile. be nice, be respectful, show you are serious. Keep hand guestures to a minimum.

I think that both sides used some "theatrical tactics" which detracted from their message.

Sorry but I wouldn't (if I could) vote for that self satisfied, entitled feeling republican moron for a dog catcher.
Just my opinion. Woman's rights, environmental issues, aside.
Seriously - the reason we are in the straights we are, all has to do with republican leadership PRIOR to Obama who has been slowly digging us out of the hole THEY created.

Explain how adding trillions of dollars of debt to our deficit making us more and deeper in debt than we have ever been digging us out of a hole? I would call that digging us deeper............

I am a one issue voter--pro-choice. If both canidates are have true track record of protecting woman;s right to choose, then I look at other issues, like imagration and energy policy and health care (still a mess). There is so much spin and bs I have hard time understanding anyone's clear position.

and 90% of America endorsed at the time lets not forget.

Biden was obviously going to win this debate and he did. As soon as they got started, Joe ripped into the Romney/Ryan campaign that has been flip flopping, lieing, making things up and just basically being full of shit. Joe torn into Ryan and Ryan did nothing, because he couldn't. Joe Biden, love him or hate him, is a true career politician and knows how to play this game better than anybody since Chenney.

We must have been watching different debates. Even the CNN polls which normally favor Obama/Biden gave the debate to Ryan. Their results were Ryan 48% to Biden 44% with +-5% error. A virtual tie. So how did you come up with Biden as the winner? Biden just laughed his way through the debate.

The wars that Bush initiated, let us not forget.

And don't forget Vietnam. The war that John F Kennedy got us into. Wasn't he a democrat? But that one was a righteous war, right? More Americans died during Vietnam than any war since the Civil War. The US was involved in that war for 18 years.

Conducting a war for over 10 years as we have in the middle east takes the cooperation of BOTH parties, congress and the presidents. There are no innocents. These are the politicians that US citizens elected who have been killing people in other countries in our names.

Have you ever noticed how the news in the US focuses on US casualties? 4,486 US deaths in Iraq between 2003 and 2012. What about the over 1 million Iraqi deaths as a result of OUR war.

The actual numbers are hard to know. It depends on whose count you believe.

Yes, the debt accumulated during the Bush Jr. Administration due to the"war" although I'm not certain who we were fighting and why. But yes discussion is the debt that current administration has inherited.
Rotorhead, I am not pro war period, no matter party involved....I'm sure I was one of the 10% against going into the middle east...Vietnam was an enormous mistake...think we would have learned and not repeated history.
OK...no more politics for me....now I'm out.

The average American seems to think they are entitled to a rather elevated standard of living these days, far beyond what was considered the norm even 30 years ago (pre 80's boom). We seem to be ignorant that in the past some austerity measures were economically necessary following protracted wars. In fact most folks seem oblivious to the cost of the wars, not only in dollar terms but in the sacrifices made by our military and their families. As far as the 'have your cake and eat it too' philosophy being expounded by the R&R camp, without at least some specifics I don't put too much trust in it.

How can I find out how much the war actually cost me? (military expense and oversea reconstruction expense) How much? Did anybody break it down to a per taxpayer amount? I wonder if we could have purchased every tax payer a hybird or how may solar panels the usa could have installed? Or how much of a health care subisdy to each middle class family? Or many college grants?
As single mom with two kids in college (both with plans for graduate school) and a mortgage and health insurance premiums of $500+ per month, I live and breath "austerity measures". Why doesn't the fed government feel the need to spend wisely?

Why spend wisely when you can just print more money? Money in the US is not backed by anything, no gold, no silver, nothing. Money is only paper and bits in a computer. If they want more they just print it or transfer it electronically.

The value of our money is only a perceived value. Until people start losing confidence in the US Dollar they can print as much as they like.

A vote for Romney/Ryan is a vote to cut education.

If anyone thinks we are too educated in the US and can afford to cut down on it, you might be dumb enough to vote for these two.

I was never an Obama fan, but the recession isn't so problem that fell out of the sky into our lap. Poor management of our economy, mixed with a couple wars is what did it, along with some banks acting criminally who we rewarded for doing so. The Republicans have fought tooth and nail to block every thing this administration has tried to do and it's still on an upswing.

The reason this is allowed to happen, is because we need more education, because people are still ignorant enough to support these clowns.
