I am trying to figure out which town to move to. Christiansted or Frederiksted. Anyone have any opinions between the two?
Thanks
🙂

it depends a lot on where you expect to be working, the types of activities you enjoy, etc. Each town/section of the island has its own flavor and different places to hang out and do things. Most people want to live somewhat close to where they will be working. Different people like each town for their own reasons. It's a very personal choice.

Very good question. The right answer if Frederiksted. Nothing beats the beauty of this part of the island. The east is a bit bland for my taste. If you want beauty and nature come to Frederiksted. If you want something bland go east. It's just like choosing to live in the East side of Manhattan vesus the West side. I'd choose Frederiksted but be ready to spend additional time finding the right place for you. No doubt you will need to accomodate to the ways of the island. You'll fall in love with the West side of the island very quickly...

It really depends on where you will be working. We live on the North Shore and work east of C'sted. Love both job and home, but it is a 30-35 minute commute each way. Why don't you find temp housing until you find a job?

Another thing. Very few people live right in either town. Your better question would be west or east. And that question really has no answer until you get here and see which suits you.

I offer short term rentals located approximately 3 miles west of Christiansted. Minimum rental is 30 days, or you can have a long term lease. Very flexible. I saw your other post looking for a place in the $600 range. My least expensive is $750, plus utilities. It will be available mid-Sept. or early Oct. Take a look at my website http://www.virginislandsrentals.com and look at the St. Croix Pictures page. The apartment I am talking about is Efficiency 2B. Let me know if I can help.

This is something you need to decide for yourself. Everyone one has their very own opinion for various reasons be it circumstances, experiences, preferences, family/friends or work. Don't be too influenced by other people. You have made a huge life changing decision to move to the island. I am sure you can decide which part of the island will suit your lifestyle.

West is very lush and has great sunsets. Although the last 2 years east has been pretty darn green as well. West doesnt offer alot of job opporunities and night life will be extremely limited. I lived there for my first year. Crime was worse and proverty greater. Then we moved center for a couple of years and we bought a small investment condo there and we finally bought east. Personnally I prefer center island around the la grande princess area. I love being in the hills and have a beautiful 180 view from the nw shore to buck island. I also love being close to the west and east and it not being a chore to drive to one or the other. I liked the fact when I was center island that all the shopping and nightlife was close as well. So we're saving again to buy a house center island. If you are buying east is usually (not always) the best for investment.

West is Best!!!!!!!!!!

The whole island is pretty laid back... West seems to be more laid back... Don't you want to be cool??

But honestly... it really comes down to personal preference and lifestyle... I'm more of a kick back and fire up the grill crack open a cold Bud and watch the sunset type of guy... and like Steph said... you opened a can of worms... they both have their +/- 's...
