I'm Don, 47, retired. My Dr. Told me not to waste the 25 yrs of free time he gave me in Buffalo, NY. I tend to agree.

House just sold this week. I've been researching for a long time now.
Realtors haven't gotten back to me at all, so I'm not sure where would fit me.
I've met many people on line and been told to look around Lerkenlund and Coral Bay.

I'm single so I don't need anything outrageous. I'm also a military veteran and prior Law Enforcement. I can literally live in the jungle I guess.

First priority is the right place to live. Wanna be on the beach but probably not an option. I don't carry a million in my pocket. So I think close enough would be a walk. Or up top of a hill with a good view is great too.

Important things I need are Internet to access my stock accounts quickly. Vehicle. I'm an outdoorsman so no car for me. I train Labradors and Rottweilers. In fact I have a service dog. So I'd like someplace with a yard.

I'll be coming for a real estate search if any realtors get back to me.

Any words of wisdom are welcome. In fact Any words are welcome...thanks!

Maybe you should first decide which island you'll be living on. Lerkenlund is North side St Thomas, Coral Bay is St John. You can be the greatest outdoorsman of all time but in both these locations you'll be totally stuck without transportation. If you haven't read all the information available in the drop-down menus top of the page on the relocation forum you should do so and if you've not done a PMV you should really do that too. Good luck.

Read the wolf site many times.
I don't know what PMV is.
I can be a sportsman anywhere in the world.
A boat and vehicle are fine for transportation. I don't think I'll be stuck.
Thanks.

A PMV is a pre-move visit - a term that's scattered all over the relocation forum and explained in detail. I guess I misunderstood your words, "I'm an outdoorsman so no car for me." If you're planning on having both a car and a boat then you'll have the best of both worlds!

Hi don! Welcome! I'm a newbie too. Many of the realtors sites have listings on their website. That's how I found my place. I'm on the beach but no yard for a dog. It's a condo association type deal. I've seen a lot of small dogs but nothing larger. Congrats on making this decision!

Lol, I'm sorry about that confusion I caused.
"No car for me" means I need a truck or jeep or SUV and that a car would not be my first choice.

I believe you're on STX and he's looking at STT/STJ.

Are you looking to buy or rent?
Rentals with fenced yard are hard to come by on any island.
As OT mentioned Coral Bay is in STJ, on eastern most end.
Lerkenlund is on STT, north side.
Do you have a particular island in mind and budget?

Hi..I would rent for a bit unless something fell in my lap.
I will put down about $100k.
Real Estate is in my wheelhouse so I think renting first is the smart move. Then I can meet contractors and get a feel for costs of rehabbing.
I have StJ in mind but they are ALL wide open right now.

Thanks!
