ISO long term rental on STX

I'll be in STX from June 20 through July 3 for my PMV. I'd like to secure a rental while I'm there. I'm part of the Facebook groups for rentals but am not having much luck (I know it's early yet). So, I'm just putting this out there if anyone knows of anything available mid to late summer. A studio or one bedroom in a safe location is what I'd need. It's just me moving (female). Cat friendly would be nice but not a deal breaker, AC a must and washer/dryer would be wonderful but also not necessary. I'm think east end as far as location but am open to other locations. I'd like to stay around or under $1200 a month. I also have reached out to quite a few realtors. Any other suggestions for searching prior to my PMV?

Thanks!!

Housing is really, really tight here on STX right now. I've been in my apartment for 3 years. I check MLS and paper and Craigslist every week and have for a long time. Just a habit I have as a former Realtor. If I had to move right now, I'm afraid I'd be out of luck and I know plenty of landlords and have been on STX for many years. The market is extremely tight right now. And, I don't say that lightly.

Thanks rosesisland. I've been watching all those too, the Facebook groups and in contact with a few realtors. I originally had planned to come in January 2018 but canceled after the hurricanes and AA gave me until July 4 to use my credited airfare or lose it. Hence, the trip now. I'm thinking my two weeks will be a more of an exploring STX trip than actually finding a rental, which is not a bad way to spend two weeks. I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer to move when rentals do open up. Thanks for your input! This forum has been a great source of information.

My two weeks in STX has come to an end. It was a great PMV trip but I still have not found a long term rental. I'm in no major rush to move but would love to move sooner rather than later. STX is everything I thought it would be and more! So, keep me in mind if you know of any small, safe, cat friendly, affordable (under $1200 preferably) long term rentals on the east side! Thanks all!

Rental rates went way up with FEMA and construction contactors all looking for housing post hurricane. Just today, the governor held a press conference announcing the start up of the refinery that will bring hudreds more construction and refinery workers.

You will need to increase your budget considerably to find anything decent. The real estate market is fixing to get crazy.
