The Buccaneer Hotel is currently seeking strong candidates for the position of Housekeeper.

Job Title:

HOUSEKEEPER / ROOM ATTENDANT

Scope and General Purpose:

The job of the Housekeeper involves providing general support to the Housekeeping and Laundry staff by ensuring that guests’ rooms and all public areas are kept clean. In addition to this, a Housekeeper performs various duties, which assists in the overall presentation of The Buccaneer Hotel. A Housekeeper assists staff in a smooth and efficient manner, and adheres to all protocols in line with the hotel’s strategy, and values.

Main Duties:

• Responsible for the cleanliness of guest rooms, hallways, and public areas in the hotel. Responsibilities include: servicing guest rooms daily in accordance with hotel procedures, stocking cart with room supplies, and replacing bed linens and replenishing guest room supplies.
• Must pay close attention to detail, possess the ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members verbally or in written form, and possess the ability to bend, lift, and stand or walk all day.
• Must be flexible in terms of fulfilling specialized cleaning duties. For example, a Room Attendant may be assigned to work in the laundry and a Laundry Attendant may be assigned to work in rooms as circumstances demand.
• Must complete an especially thorough cleaning after the occupants of a room check out.
• Possess the ability to use a large wheeling cart to hold supplies to transport clean linens, bedding, cleansers, and all other necessary cleaning equipment to the rooms. Housekeepers replace soiled linen and towels; restock soap, tissues, and drinking glasses; disinfect bathroom surfaces; dust and polish the furniture; remove all trash; and sweep and mop the floors.
• Must be able to work quickly and efficiently without invading their guests' privacy and should have a neat, clean appearance.
• Ensure before leaving a room or public area that the space is spotless and ready for new guests or patrons. If housekeepers notice anything in a room that is not working properly, they report it to their supervisor. They also send to the lost-and-found department any articles that previous guests may have left in the rooms when they checked out.
• Perform other duties aside from cleaning guest rooms, such as washing windows, emptying ashtrays, and cleaning hallways and stairs. Housekeepers clean public areas work in the lobbies, offices, lounges, conference and banquet rooms, as well as public rest rooms.
