Good Day,

I'm posting for two reasons.

First to ask if there is any active Chess groups/clubs on St Thomas. During my searching I found the USVI Chess federation page http://www.usvichess.com/programs.htm. But it only list two groups, both on St Croix.

I've begun a Facebook group for St Thomas Chess. If anyone is interested in joining please follow the link below.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/USVIChess/

Currently I have 3 boards and on time clock with plans on purchasing a few more clocks. If interest is there I would like to host a year tournament. But first things first, get the members. Who’s interested in learning/playing chess on St Thomas?

Virgin Islands Institute for Teaching and Learning (VIIFTAL) had started a Chess Team for young people 1 or 2 years ago for Thomas/St. John. Not sure if it still exists, but might be worth trying to find out and getting in touch with the people that organized it.

Isn't there a chess club that meets up at the Al Cohen Mall - where Randy's, Mango Tango and the Geneology library is located on that same level? I think I have seen signs there.

I found this as well:
Chess Club: The Bolongo Bay Chess Club meets from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays in the karaoke area next to Iggies. Adults and children of all skill levels are welcome.

Sorry but don't know how current the above is.

Alana - the St Thomas Bridge Club has a spot at Al Cohens, on same level as the library, Mango Tango etc. Not sure if they also do Chess.
